I'm sure any of us will gladly answer questions if you have any

Anything that precedes sex is technically foreplay

AI overall? Generally pro. LLMs and generative AI, though, I'm "against", mostly meaning that I think it's misused.

Not sure what the answer is, tbh. Reigning in corporations would be good.

I do think we as a society need to radically alter our relationship to IP law. Right now we 'enforce' IP law in a way that benefits corporations but not individuals. We should either get rid of IP law altogether (which would protect people from corporations abusing the laws) or we should enforce it more strictly, and actually hold corporations accountable for breaking it.

If we fixed that, I think gen AI would be fine. But we aren't doing that.

Veggies probably will be too, unfortunately ๐Ÿฅฒ

Actually banana for eggs can work if you know what you're doing. In many baking recipes, the egg is used as a binder. Pectin (found in fruit) can work as well, but you need to alter the recipe in very specific ways to make it work.

It's not a poverty thing, it's a vegan thing. It's Nutritional Yeast, which tastes kind of cheesy

Well I don't think you're the OP. He's made some pretty sweeping claims that I'd like to address with him.

But as for your comment, I'll happily oblige ๐Ÿ˜Š

Like one of the primary good criticisms against utilitarianism is that you cannot actually practice it and instead end up implementing some other ethics system on a day to day basis.

As an individual? Probably not, no. But countries and organizations ought to determine their laws and/or policies based on utilitarianism, yes.

Individuals will probably follow the moral codes of their communities, and only actually use utilitarian principles when it's time to evaluate whether the rules are working as intended.

How do you calculate the utilons of any decision? Like seriously how?

Badly, I assume. But it's closer to "good" than any other system will get you.

Yeah? Maybe we mean different things when we say that word though.

To me, I mean that I enjoy food the way other people enjoy whatever it is that they're passionate about. So I have a few fancy kitchen gadgets and a well-stocked spice cabinet, and I'd budget for and save for a trip to a nice restaurant the way other people budget for sneakers or makeup or whatever. I don't think that's a weird thing to 'admit.'

I'm a foodie and I make those kinds of meals. I just probably use more spices than average.

The Bard is the first class in the book, and provides a great example of the tone of the setting. Bards are able to demoralize opponents (a.k.a. deal nonlethal damage) at range with their music, or replenish allies' courage (which serves as the hitpoints for the system). The bard is also equipped to resolve conflicts before they even begin with a strong suite of interpersonal skills.

The Bard starts the game with an instrument corresponding to their specialty - stringed instruments are more effective at healing, percussion instruments are better at demoralizing foes, and wind instruments are better at inspire checks (which covers a few different abilities that buff allies).

As they level, Bards gain powerful healing and buffing abilities, can sway the emotion of entire crowds, or even creating fourth wall breaking effects (like 'teleporting' through the power of a travel montage).

It's such a great system! I'll be posting stuff for it here

This weekend I was able to play a Land of Eem one-shot. I like this system a lot! It reminds me of some of my favorite action-adventure media.

If you're looking for a ttrpg that evokes the same mood or vibes as ATLA, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, or The Owl House (just to name a few) then I couldn't recommend this system enough.

I was flipping through the rulebook and I was honestly very pleasantly surprised at every turn at how the game's creators balanced lighthearted, fluffier elements of the game and setting with grittier, crunchier elements that give the setting realism and depth. So far it seems to be everything I would want in a ttrpg (including a really detailed, already-keyed hexmap full of rumors and plot hooks!!!) It manages to evoke whimsy and wonder while remaining a dramatic, grounded low-fantasy game with real stakes. And it seems to have a really awesome crafting system too!

I'll have to see how it feels to run but so far it seems absolutely perfect.

For those who haven't seen it before, the flag pictured is the Queerian flag! Queerians are primarily or exclusively attracted to other queer people. This can be an identity all it's own or a modifier (i.e. queerian bisexual).

For me, I guess it comes with the territory of being nonbinary. It's just hard to imagine someone who isn't queer understanding the weirdness of my relationship to gender. Even though I tend to refer to myself as a woman, I would legitimately have an easier time being attracted to a gay man than a straight one. It doesn't really make sense to me, but at least there's a word for it ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

And here in the US, I've also got to worry about the tariff shortages ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Even the smallest hesitation or "off" facial expression or word choice will leave me spiraling once I go home ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

I do with they were bigger though. I'm very impatient...

I'm trying to get away from corporate owned software and support FOSS stuff.

Normally if I wanted to play a game online I would use a discord server and some kind of vtt. Since discord is not looking great rn, where would you guys recommend playing?

Any vtt recs are good too but I don't strictly need one. A way to chat and roll dice is essential though

I'm already so done with this course.

My textbook:

p: "The weather is bad."

Exercise:

Represent "the weather is good" using logical symbols.

Me: How am I supposed to answer that? You didn't give me a letter for that. I guess I'll use q?

Expected answer: ~p
