My strategy of assuming each British person I talk to is transphobic until proven otherwise is still proving effective. (half-joking, sorta)

Yeah, that's pretty much where my head was at. Like, sure, there are plenty of precautions the parents could've taken to prevent that. But in the end, a horrific accident occurred and now they're left with the grieving and guilt, so my first thought wasn't to blame the parents.

There was a recent tragedy in my area where a toddler fell several stories from their apartment and unfortunately died. A 24-year-old coworker said to me, "Man, that's so fucking sad, but how do you let your young child fall like that?"

And before I could stop myself, I went, "Well, you can't pause Call of Duty. ". She didn't even really react to what I said, and then I felt bad for making such a gross joke. As a parent myself, I know how horrible this is. But my first instinct was to resort to gallows humor. Should I do some introspection?

This reminds me of the time that I encountered one of my cousins whom I hadn't talked to in 10 years at a family event. When he asked me what I had been up to, I told him that I was really into the Tropico series, and how I've been building a little communist island society and was having a lot of fun. His first response was, "Oh cool, so you have bread lines, secret police, and all of your citizens are poor af?"

There's really only two reasons why someone would hate communism:

1. You have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo because you benefit from it (either from a class or race perspective)
2. You're really fucking stupid and easily propagandized.

I have a massive crush on my manager at my new job lmao. Every time we work together, I get home and I'm like, "Wow, she's really cool, I like her." I've only been there for 3 and a half weeks, so hopefully that subsides with time lol.

Bout to go take a drug test (urinalysis) for my new job. I haven't smoked weed in about a month, so hopefully it'll go okay. I live in a recreational state, so it's dumb that they test for marijuana.

Genuine question: Is it Holocaust denial because Fartlow is comparing the widespread and organized violent persecution of Jewish people to something that is not at all comparable, thus downplaying the actual significance of the Kristallnacht?

Yes, the totalitarians are...20 year old college students who hold no actual power besides collectively being loud and demonstrating in the hopes that it's disruptive enough to invoke change. Not the jackbooted thugs beating them with billy clubs and throwing them in a van.
