I feel a lot of the mortalities after 20 are things like infections. You really don't have to go too far out of your way to stub a toe and ends up with sepsis. Things we've dealt with really effectively after a cure is detected.

I've been watching early 2000s crime dramas, and frankly, seeing the best on offer in the US admin, I can't even imagine there are competent people inside any organization anymore. I feel the writers guild has really polished the balls of people in power, when I'm really seeing a lot of bumbling oafs in charge of stuff, not heroes or anyone willing to actually solve anything.
I would say something snarky like "just wait til they make more money putting out literal fires than they do deporting brown people", but then I realize they haven't gotten any money from deporting people, and, you know, rich assholes would love to buy up cheap land when everything is burnt to the chimneys.
I feel the ambiguity was the message

I for one just adore the enshittification of literally everything, we've built a self poisoning well that will kill us all, and my hatred of humanity is blossoming quite nicely from my view in whatever layer of hell this is
