Yeah I need a good camera, and I heard the pixel is good. I'll look into that, I can probably keep an older xiaomi for my banking app with all the google crap on it...

In the showbiz country? Or so I heard.

You're the (working for free) tester now.

And even simple things like the gallery is so bad, scanning your whole phone. I want the gallery yo show my photos, not my video collection or downloaded images.

I'm not rich, but if I could I'd jump ship with my xiaomi 13t.

Ha ha what a horror. Where do you live, and can't you do something about it?

Who would have thought. What's next, teachers teaching? Painters painting?

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 11 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

I don't get any references but I fucking love those comics.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

That's what I'm looking for but the question would be, which comic, and where to publish it? I'm targeting hacker/nerd people.

Good idea, I'll try it out!

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for something to republish regularly (like every week would be perfect), that might interest lemmings or other fediverse people.

Why? It's to test out the tenfingers protocol and show how it can work like a distributing platform.

So any idea what I can try out with, it can be text (like an rss feed), audio, video or some webpage I guess. As long as it's regularly updated and that would pique the interest of people who are a bit tech savvy/curious.

Cheers

I get recommend loads of thise videos, some channels have a million users, others a couple of hundred, but they all feature a 3D Sarah Payne AI bot talking, sometime with another bot intervention, "explaining" on a backdrop of AI selected images.

Is this just something to skip, report or is it supposed normal behavior nowadays?

Edit: The button was "under" the phone UI, which explains the problem. Carefully clicking makes it "function". The app insta crashes at every image download though, like it did a while back, so it's the same old bug. Im on xiaomi hyper os.

Popup after saving an image (the image gets saved! But then this garassed you until you hit "OK" and the app restarts)

Not relevant any more:

~~When trying to save images, everything is as usual, except the image isn't saved, and the "image saved" popup doesn't show up.

The bug feels like the download button just doesn't do anything.~~

Cheers and congratulations on the new version!

Not appreciated, I'm removing it.

Edit: the Base64 text is just a "fun" way of representing the downloadable link (or so I thought). I think it is kind of interesting, having a text based format for the tenfingers links that you can share on a forum. I'm adding this as one user was concerned it was some sort of "virus". Just for info, the cmd line rebuilds the file from the text (you can compare them if you doubt it by Base64 the link file), and it's all filtered through browser security when you 'use' the file, so I doubt it can be harmful even if I tried to make it so. Valmond strikes as a genius marketeer again I guess :-/

Hi everyone!

This time I have a fun use case, sharing with a text link.

Wait, come back! You won't regret it, promise!

To check it out:

  1. download the tenfingers downloader webpage here (the three first files, 1 html & 2 javascripts): https://tenfingers.org/webentry/

  2. Then instead of using the provided link on that page, copy paste this (see below) in a file link.txt, and run the command:

base64 -d link.txt | tar -xzvf - -C ./

  1. Open the downloaded download.html file, and select "Browse" to open the newly generated page1.10f file. It's kind of slow especially the music and video links, please be patient!

  2. Profit!

Happy sharing!

/Valmond

The original problem was:

1 It frose up the app for around 15 seconds when downloading an image.

2 Frequently after downloading an image, the app started popping messages it didn't function (a popup with two choices, select one and continue for some seconds until the popup respawn, or second choice restart the app).

It went away some maybe 2 weeks ago (I did post that it was now working as expected).

But today (yesterday?) with the new update, the bug is back.

Good luck and thanks for all the other betterings!

Cheers

PS. My older post is just a bit further down, and the fix was around 17 days ago (more info about OS HyperOS etc).

They never get as good if I have ample space all around.

Migrated to cryptodome from cryptodomex, you will have to update the python files when updating the docker image.

Can now serve CORS requests for the web prototype ( see link )

Just curious, do you tinker with small solar panels to recharge batteries for your projects?

I bought a chinese one and its performance is abysmal, so I thought I'd better ask around before buying more ewaste :-/

I'd love a solar powered robot but that seems hard, but wifi modules and control systems should be able to work solar only, right?

Tenfingers sharing protocol

To test out the tenfingers protocol in a real world use case, I made a small html/js entrypoint for tenfingers (.10f) files.

Security is of course a concern with downloading things inside a javascript on a web page, so there are restrictions on how it can be used.

If you want to try it out, and give some feedback I'd be quite happy!

To do so:

Go to this link where you can download the html & js code (3 files) and a tenfingers test link.

Put them all in a temporary folder, and open the download.html file in your favorite browser, from there you can 'load' the 10f file.

The code is slow, does not give much details of what's happening (hit F12 and check the 'console' tab (Firefox, other browsers might vary) or just check CPU usage (decryption is slow) so please be patient.

And please please report back, especially if something or nothing seems to work!

Cheers & thanks!
