I want to see the video of this assault and what led up to it.

Ah, I guess I missed that part when reading. So, they're likely cooperating with investigations of other cartels.

It's not cheap, like $1,000 plus periodic supplies but you can buy your own cpap. What I don't know is how you can get it calibrated to your needs without seeing a sleep specialist.

What's stopping us from using similar techniques in hot climates now? Why aren't we building similar structures as homes in Phoenix instead of the standard suburban homes?

I have a few questions:

  • Why?
  • How long will they be here?
  • How big was the bribe?

I forsee the auto industry fighting this tooth and nail. They invested in EVs for many reasons, but partially because the tax credit is there. Pulling the tax credit now will be yet another blow against the auto industry.

My guess at how this plays out is that they'll drop the tax credit, then spend even more on corporate subsidies.

I'm not really sure why you're being downvoted. I up voted you.

I didn't actually mean to imply that I disagreed with you. I was just giving some alternative numbers to demonstrate the issue in a more realistic way. I also didn't think you were implying that billionaires are good just because the example in this post isn't the best one.

I actually wouldn't mind if mine were smaller. They're taking over my garden.

In CO my Columbine have turned into bushes and are ready to give me hundreds of blooms! I have no idea why they've become such monsters but they're probably three foot diameter spheres.

Okay, how about this? If someone were to work every day for 50 years and if they invested everything they earned at an 8% interest rate, they would need to earn approximately $1.4M/day to reach Elon's current level of wealth.

At $5,000/day income and 8% interest investments, it would take 120 years to accumulate $340B.

I'm not in any way defending this. This is going to get people killed, including people who are here with legal status. Likely even citizens.

They don't appear to be accepting just anyone off the street, though. The order talks about deputizing existing law enforcement officers as ICE agents.

So, we're going to have even more poorly trained ICE officers rounding people up to be sent to concentration camps. People who have no idea how to validate documents. People who don't understand the different types of legal statuses. People who want nothing more than to round up anyone with brown skin, regardless of their status. People who know that due process is dead because we can't afford five million trials.

Ignoring what anyone thinks of undocumented immigrants, people with legal status are going to get caught in this. Some of them are going to go to camps. Some of them are going to be deported. Some of them are going to die. There will be more and more "mistakes" with no attempt at remediation.

I have no doubt that even citizens are going to die as a consequence of this.

I'm a white guy from a fairly non-diverse city. I was at a grocery store today where a cashier opened up their line to serve me and, I thought, the person behind me. As they were serving me, though, they put up their lane closed sign right in front of the black man behind me. The buy was just trying to purchase some tuna, bread, and peanut butter.

The cashier basically decided to serve me, a middle class white man, but refused to serve the black man behind me. I was so shocked that I didn't say anything. It is possible that I misunderstood the situation but it seemed so blatant.

What should I have done in this situation? Should I have spoken up? Would that have just been more embarrassing for the man who was being discriminated against?

Honestly, I'm still just in shock to see someone treated so poorly when they were simply trying to buy food for themselves. I recognize that means that I'm sheltered but I also feel like I should be able to use my unearned privilege to help others who are being discriminated against.

I keep running into issues where I'm unsure of which account I'm currently using. It would be nice if it were more obvious at all times. Two things that would help me are:

  • always display the current user somewhere, regardless of what content is being viewed.
  • allow setting different color themes for different users.

I use Podcast Addict and have recently noticed location-based ads in my podcasts. Adds that are local to my large town / small city. The app doesn't have location permissions, so how are the podcasts embedding localized ads?

They decided to give a show today. Six of them were hanging out on the dock, but when I stopped to take pictures, they all decided to take off and do circles over the lake.

I got lucky and this guy posed for me for about five minutes. I tried to get some in flight, but they're simply too fast for me!

This beautiful bird has been hanging out at our local lake for the last several weeks. I've been trying to get some pictures of him and he finally got close enough for my lenses.

Three or four of these guys have been hanging out in the lake near my house.
