I want to believe, I don’t know what I’d do otherwise.
I recognise with this sentiment. It is pretty tough slowly coming to realise the things society told me a child, and so I naturally believed, aren't really true. It took a while.

This certainly appears to be true.
My government, and Israel, have made it clear that my opposition to the genocide in Gaza makes me an antisemite. I have maybe only once read of a Jewish person or group opposing this view.
So be it, I know which side of history I want to tell my young nieces and nephews I was on, so I have no problem whatsoever with any of legal issues this might cause me.
Of course, the price for Israel (and silent Jewish people) making the judgement that I and most socially liberal people are antisemites, is Jewish people are on their own, other than the far right/nazi aligned groups who support their actions in Gaza, in terms of international support from people not governments.
Edit - and as an aside, I think this new alignment indicates that a lot of the 20th century Western notions of political 'left' and 'right' are dead, 'liberalism' is a political double-speak (do you mean economic or social liberalism? Because they are at odds), and it isn't Russia v. the USA, because American oligarchs and wannabe strongmen are in perfect alignment with their Russian counterparts.
I'd say he's right. In a way. Cars don't create congestion, they are congestion.
Fine. And with this realisation let's end the phrase "I'm stuck in traffic". Cars aren't stuck in traffic, they are traffic.
Every bike on the road is one less car.
Other than that this guy seriously needs to get out into the fresh air and spend sometime around people (if it is a guy, it's overwhelmingly most likely a bot and so a genuinely harmful thing to engage with, get angry about, republish here, or do anything with other than ignore).
Social media is just getting worse, and although there is much to like about defederation, a lot of the content here is not healthy.
The tacit support shown by most Western governments to the genocide in Gaza indicates to me that human society has entered a new phase. One from which we are not coming back.
The myth of 'civilised Western society' 20th century me was told I was growing up into is incontrovertibly dead and gone.
What insects?
(Only joking: yes their populations are collapsing in the wild but presumably they are easy to farm. But giving ravenous humans a taste for insects doesn't sound good for the insects, or the food webs that sit on top of them!)
Well linux is the kernel of many operating systems, including many 'smart' devices.
If this was your joke then apologies, but it probably is in a load of 'smart' toasters. If they exst of course, I assume they do.
To be honest my box of cables has saved me a few times, but I do mess about with computers.
Just wait until people realise the steepness of the co2 emissions reduction curve has become so extreme that it is impossible to avoid catastrophic climate change without a global collapse of capitalism that in turn can only lead to kinetic world war. Which, again in turn, is the most carbon intensive activity known to human-kind, making this sort of environmental degradation a picture of the good old days.
It is a pity that most people didn't pay attention when IPCC's working group three (the group responsible for coming up with a plan to mitigate climate change), was filled with economists beholden to a [neo-]liberal economic and political ideology that 1. set the stage for the current and future governments of right wing extremists. And 2. 'discounted the future at 5%', meaning rather than plan to mitigate climate change they said: "we will invest money now in exploiting fossil fuels, which will return a profit at 5% per year. Then we will take these compounded 5%'s and invest that in co2 removal technology". (Unfortunately they missed off the: [... co2 removal technology that does not exist outside of a lab and has only been shown to be impossible at scale].)
I don't have the information that says we are now at the point of no return (I bet people like Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping do), but publicly available information shows we have a limited number of years, and are racing in the wrong direction. Apologies maybe I am not having the best morning!
And not asking for it will kill whatever remains of the creative industries.
What do you want, a few years of ai slop followed by the more or less rapid decline of the internet (as it is overwhelmed with model collapse creative works and untrustable content) that will afford the likes of Clegg (in his role of 'meta' executive) a huge payout, or creative people having any hope of a sustained ability to make a living?
I know what I would prefer and I also know what is most likely going to happen. This is the result of decades of neo-liberal fossil-fuel-powered capitalism.
You are wrong. 'We have to take care when it comes to genocide'. No you don't. You have a right to be angry and a right to shout about it. You are engaging in genocidal apologism.
To tolerate intolerance creates an intolerant society. To tolerate genocide is fucking disgusting.
