Really needs a black theme

Batch subscribe and maybe some sort of dup community merge or sync would help a lot. Fragmentation will be the end of communities. Too few choices and people are disappointed, too many and they are overwhelmed

It's extremely confusing for the average user. First having to pick an instance, not knowing if it'll survive, trying to even get registered on all the instances that disabled it..lemmy.ml and etc, not seeing posts because of defederation..ehm beehaw. And many instances are extremely slow right now. Not to mention the infinite spinning wheel when trying to register a taken username.

There really needs to be a simpler landing page and simpler intro and server selection.

In introducing all my friends to Lemmy, these points all came up and none of them wanted to continue.

Well ,if your home instance is defederated, you're essentially blocked from another instance, not just a community.

It's no small thing to defederate, beehaw has many communities, all not accessible across Lemmy now

Tbh I think we can expect all instances to eventually defederate when someone offends someone else and they get cancelled

You are all over the place. Users are exactly what makes this all run. Free speech is different from illegal content.

But yeah, that first line there, why should I even bother contributing if that's the attitude?

Ah yes, when one can't rationally discuss, personal attacks

I used to do that, but burnt out long ago. trying to back off the caffeine completely now, I think it's actually been making it much worse

not actually mine , credit is on the bottom left, but I cant even re-load the image, let alone lemmy.world, it's all so slow. I was actually trying to find the original to link to someone else and couldnt load lemmy.world

I think the appeal was supposed to be all drivers are open source. where as even with custom roms, you still have proprietary firmware blobs that must be updated by the manufacturer to prevent any exploits
