I’ve read Alice in Wonderland for the first time recently and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It’s not very long, so I think it’s possible to read the whole thing in three hours

Gonna try to do this every Friday evening from now on to get some discussion going on here. Not sorted by anything, just 5 songs I want to share and say a few words about.

1: n-buna - ウミユリ海底譚

I came across this a few weeks ago and really liked it. The melody is catchy, the lyrics are relatable in some way that I don’t really understand, the mv is really cute, and that’s all I can say. I’m bad at words.

2: Siinamota - Drug (Drag?) Score

I really liked Siinamota. You’ve likely heard his most famous song „Young Girl A“ (少女A) in one form or another (the Breakcore song „Paranoia“ by Kentenshii uses the refrain as a sample and blew up on TikTok and Youtube), but I really like his entire library. It’s a shame he never really got popular until after his death.

3: r-906 - The Hole

r-906 is one of my favorite producers and this song is how I discovered him. He uses Vocal Synths in ways I rarely see from other producers and he excels at it. Not really much more to say here, just a really nice song.

4: Kikuo - Dust Dust Curse

Kikuo is one of my favorite artists outside of the Vocaloid sphere as well. Incredibly creative and, although some of his older lyrics can be a bit sickening (cough gomenne gomenne cough), they usually tell interesting stories with much room for interpretation, that often ends up being surprisingly relatable (except for said older songs. If you relate to those I seriously worry for your mental and physical wellbeing)

5: Three - Telecaster B Boy

Very nice song. I don’t consider myself trans (!RemindMe 5 years) but I still find the lyrics relatable and the mv cute. It annoys me to see a large portion of the top comments trying to downplay the very obvious trans themes to justify their liking of the song without having to acknowledge their existence.

And that’s it for this week. I’d appreciate any recommendations or just comments in general, I’ve been missing some sense of community in the fandoms I’m in on here. Otherwise, see you next week.

Lemmy has an algorithm though (active, hot, and scaled sorting)

unrelated to the gp but after the race Sky Germany showed an ad with a very hot and very sexualized man and my very homophobic dad started breathing heavily when it zoomed onto his crotch (in underwear) and I just found that funny sorry

Also, I think Norris could’ve easily gotten the podium (or at least P4) if they’d just pitted later for mediums to pull off the one stop. He wasn’t dropping much lap time before both of his stops

Though I think Russel is cheeky enough to time that maneuver deliberately to catch Max off guard

Bit harsh defending from Piastri against his teammate, but the crash was 100% on Norris. Good on him that he was quick to recognize it though, a lot of drivers would’ve been a lot less nice on the radio after that

Absolute Cinema

It heavily depends on the artist. There are also a lot of producers who lean into her robotic nature (like Sasakure.uk), which prevents the squeaky noises that usually occur at higher notes with more normal tuning, and others who have really good realistic tuning (like Mitchie M) who manage to make her sound like a normal singer

I’m new to this as well, I just chose this instance to switch to (also from lemm.ee) because I’m queer and knew this instance did a good job keeping out assholes.

In general I think most instances on here are leftist or at least left-leaning. The general recommendation for lemm.ee users is currently lemmy.zip, if you want a dedicated political instance I only know of the anarchist lemmy.dbzer0.com (though they are too defensive of genAI for my taste) and the European Federalist feddit.org.

This thread has more recommendations by a more experienced user

They’ve got a lot of genuine tankies on there, and not just the „West is bad“ kind, but also a lot of „The Russian invasion of the Ukraine is justified and the Tiananmen massacre didn’t happen“
