Thanks for you comment! I asked him and he said that they're called HORI Split Pad Compact (Eevee), although they can only be used when they're physically attached to the console, so they might not be what you're looking for...

whilst I personally used a walkthrough not to get lost, it is indeed a good option to just give it ago, especially regarding a certain character!
