I suppose they never specified it was supposed to be a good user experience?

I don't think its a matter of stowing empathy as much as it is redirecting your energy. I still empathize with those people, but I try to focus energy on my immediate life and the people around me, and thinking about how I can help and improve their lives, support them best, etc. rather than doom scrolling and despairing. Because with the people directly around me I can have a much more tangible impact. I'd like to work up to having a more systemic impact too, but I'm still figuring out that part. But I think its helpful to have a solid base to work from first, you know?

Why are people downvoting someone for admitting they made a mistake? It takes some courage to do that.

Sure, but the bacteria they'd be used to from back then would probably be fairly different from the bacteria we're used to today.

I mean for what its worth emotional intelligence (recognizing everyone hates you and just wants your money) is a whole different thing. That said, I'm pretty sure he's just an idiot in general too. Maybe smarter than the average person, but certainly not three standard deviations smarter.

Actually the larger parks near me (the only places that have enough trees to qualify as something close to a forest) do cost money (american city metro area)

Yes, exactly! Social theory of disability or whatever.

The whole idea that autism = bad isn't necessarily right or that simple anyways. I find that being on the spectrum is honestly an advantage for the type of work I do.
