Checkout 3rd party jellyfin android apps. Findroid is working pretty well. Theres another one called Streamyfin which is catching up and a third one called Fladder, which is maybe a bit too early in development.

This is already happening.

Not replying to everyone here, but wanted to make clear I obviously don't think that the motives behind this are sane.

Just pointing out that the system does need changing. This is probably not the right way but nothing else is happening to the system either. Even though scientists are complaining, their funding depends on publishing in such journals.

There's tons of stuff like that. E.g. open source Doom ports that still require the .wad files of the game.

Recently stumbled upon a remake of Dark Forces, called The Force Engine. High resolution play enabled, save games, crosshair. These kinds of mods aim to make the games better but they cannot legally provide the assets for them.

I had to look up what that is. Ew.

If you know how fucked up scientific publishing is, this honestly does not sound that crazy. Something needs to change how it currently works. Top journals charge top coin for publishing studies and scientists work for free to review those publications, then in most cases the studies are not even publicly available. And that's science funded by the government/the tax payer.

One employee with the word “apartheid” in their email signature, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation...

How many friggin Microsoft employees have a signature like that

I know this is unsolicited advice, so apologies for that, but did you consider that the issue could also be your server hard drive failing? I guess not a possibility if its really only recently synced pictures. Just wanted to throw that in.

Regarding backing up photos, Immich works well for that but is also a lot more than just photo backup, so maybe not a preference for you.

He said it's an honor, can't you read?

Edit: found the solution. It wasn't haptics settings for the trackpad, but haptics settings for the left stick that needed to be switched off.

I got an issue I just cannot wrap my head around. I got Dark Forces via Steam, the original version. I downloaded the most popular controller layout for Steamdeck, however it is really annoying to use since for some reasons when I move around using the left stick, the left trackpad starts vibrating as if I move via that.

This is not a hardware issue, I play plenty of games that use the left stick, which other than Dark Forces never leads to the left trackpad vibrating. Also I found a different controller layout that I liked for Dark Forces, where this issue isn't happening.

Now why do I still bring it up. I hear of the Force Engine project that modernised Dark Forces quite a bit. Required some tinkering, but got it working on the Steamdeck. Managed to copy over my layout from original Dark Forces. Again, left trackpad vibrating when left stick is moved.

What setting do I need to try to get rid of this? I tried removing any mapping from the trackpad, this didn't help. I found buried in some submenus a setting that was called haptics, I also switched that off. No change. It is really annoying and I just want to know which setting is causing this.

I tried searching online, but all I am getting is people saying it's a hardware issue. Hope you agree, in my case it is not.

Couldn't find this in the search here so not 100% it has been suggested before:

Can we have an new option to group communities into one feed? This was called a multireddit back on reddit, allows more granularity for feeds.

This is even more useful here on Lemmy, e.g. there are 3 separate communities on different servers about the same or very similar topics. A multicommunity of these 3 would simply merge their feeds into one. Then you won't need to check them individually for new posts anymore, just check the muticommunity.

Not sure how you would solve posting to a multicommunity, maybe needs an extra selection to which actual community this should be posted to.

I think there is already a Lemmy app that has implemented this, don't remember which one...

I've recently gotten a lot of my childhood Lego from parents place to mine and am looking for a good way to sell them.

What I have is just a lot of smaller/medium sized sets from the 80s or 90s. I think most of them should be complete but I need to dig through bags and put them together, so it will take a bit of time to know.

With complete I mean having all parts, nothing broken or missing, including instructions. I only have a few original boxes left though, so its mostly bricks and instructions.

I am not in a hurry to sell, but I'd like to get back my storage space that this is occupying. One note is that I live in Northern Europe, shipping cost in my country is pretty high, especially for tracked packages, not sure this could be a factor to reduce my chances of selling stuff at decent price.

Any input/suggestions for this would be appreciated!

Just have to share this here because of how unbelievably tone-deaf it is.

I have an upcoming flight with Lufthansa, booked cheapest economy class. Now I get a mail that says I am eligible for an upgrade.

Correction, I am eligible to make an offer to maybe maybe get an upgrade. When I click that link I get to the page above in the screenshot where I can now choose an amount between 90 and 300-ish EUR per passenger, per flight, to maybe upgrade to business class.

Just look at the slider, it is almost hilarious that it says poor when you leave it at the low amounts. Is any other airline doing that?

Just got a free trial period of Amazon prime and could claim a couple games I don't want. So now it is finally time for me to give back to this community where I received so many games myself!

Post a comment which one of the two you'd like along with your current favourite meme. Just one per person please.

Edit: The Town Of Light claimed!

Not sure this is on-topic enough and maybe a bit niche, but does anyone here have experience running Animal Crossing via Ryujinx on the Steamdeck?

Just tested it and it really seems to bring the Steamdeck to its limits. Fan is running a lot, I had a crash or two as well. Kinda worried about frying my Steamdeck with this.

I checked online for performance tweaks but they mostly say that Yuzu works a bit better with the right tweaks, Ryujinx is already setup the best way but has worse performance.

Nothing that can be done or does anyone have some experience here?

Edit: Steamdeck OLED version by the way.

Ist zwar Freiburg-spezifisch, aber man sollte doch drauf hinweisen dass sich die CDU anscheinend keinen Deut schämt über das was grade so abgeht.
