Glad you got one! I'm sure you'll love it
My dad's bringing his PC to my house when they visit for Christmas so we can setup Linux as a dual boot for him to see if he can switch from Windows 10 to Linux instead of buying a new PC
Ya, the amount of people outside bicycling, hiking, rafting I saw out there was awesome!
I got to experience Japan too, but I was even younger but 6' tall. So my experience there was mostly around how I could see over everyone :)
I switched over to Actual last month, and am not looking back. I will miss the native android app, but it is an otherwise direct replacement. I was using YNAB4, and had forever.
Anecdotal story about Colorado.
I visited CO a couple of times a while ago for work. I was in my mid 30's (2007) and fairly fit. I left Cincinnati Airport surrounded by overweight people all around me where I felt pretty good about myself. I arrived in Denver, and suddenly felt like I was on the less fit side of the spectrum.
It was VERY obvious the change. It was not something I noticed / thought about in Cincinnati, but it hit me like a ton of bricks when I landed in CO.
I've talked about that experience through the years. I have to watch what I eat, and work to be 'as fit' as I am, it definitely does not just come natural or anything remotely like. I drove around / hiked pretty much every moment I was not working and both trips were amazing. Such a beautiful state!
Easiest to work backwards. Pick out some devices you're interested in and google "device home assistant".
You can get a lot of different stuff working with HA with different methods/radios. I use Z-Wave, Zigbee,MQTT, and matter devices.
What radio you have connected to your Home Assistant could be your limiting factor. I have HA on a Raspberry PI and use an Aeotec Z-Stick and Conbee II connected to it. There's probably better stuff out there now.
Are phone manufacturers running different voltage batteries?
Ya, the Fenix is absurdly expensive. I had a well used Fenix 6 that I'd been really wanting to upgrade to an amoled screen (epix) but waiting because I heard the Fenix would get it.
Ya any of the 1, or 2 series Garmin's will be fine for sure. I bought my son a Garmin 45 which also has GPS and supports running activities would work
The more expensive ones you're paying for more features and more battery life.
Garmin has fantastic customer support too if you have any issues! (At least in my experience)
They also have vivofit line that has more smart watch features (kind of a crossover) if you need a watch and wanna get something you can wear all the time. I have a friend that runs with one of them.
I've been happy with Garmin, most people I've run with over the years also choose Garmin. There's 100 models though. I wear a Fenix 8. I wear it 24/7 so it tracks my life :) there are much more affordable forerunner models out there that have wrist HRM.
It has its place. It can allow you to keep up with people that can't install apps on work PCs or bring their phones in due to security.
I have a handful of people that I sue Google chat with on a fairly regular basis. One fits the above situation.
Ran in the coldest weather of the season this Thursday. It was about 19ยฐf when I left. I didn't look at what it was when I got back.
This is also the season of running in the dark during the week ๐ฉ. Still rocking a Black Diamond headlamp from 2015... No idea how it's still going
Also missed my Tuesday run because life got in the way and didn't get home until I just didn't feel like going.
I plan to run 10k tomorrow morning, which will give me a bit over 11 miles for the week.
