Soon the DNC will be nothing more than Biden and his staffers who manipulate him like a large marionette. They will be president but an impotent president because the parliamentarian will be in the way.

He kept calling them up at 4:56pm, saying "Beanis" and giggling before hanging up

This is a good take about any large project. If you get too into the weeds too early it just leads to stagnation. Everything is possible so anyone can have an opinion and things go nowhere. Once you have a vision and you have a mandate then you have something you have to work backwards from and the eggheads and lawyers can come in and their work will bear fruit. Before that it's a futile, masturbatory exercise.

there is an effort over there to revive the irish language. i managed to attend a poetry reading with gaelic poets speaking irish in west ireland some years ago, it's a very beautiful language.

online misanthropes whose politics is "firebomb a Walmart" and then not firebombing a Walmart

They got Target tho.

What kind of criticism is this? Any time there are protests (Gaza protests?) liberals are falling over themselves to tut tut the protestors for inconveniencing people or whatever. Now that the gaza protests have ~~subsided~~ been put down they can go back to criticizing the movement as if they were supportive rather than hyperventillating over the inconvenience.

I think it's actually impossible for anything vaguely resembling meritocracy to exist without socialism. So many of the factors that come into play when people talk about "meritocracy" come down to your circumstances in childhood into early adulthood. People who talk about meritocracy are lying to you and they're lying to themselves.

Lies of P is pretty good. I find it more difficult in general than the official product line but only really because the basic enemies and elites are more difficult. The bosses are similar in difficulty to elden ring.

There's Another Crab's Treasure that people have been calling crab souls. I havent played it, definitely much more lighthearted than typical souls games.

Italy Souls (Enotria) is coming out in September. I'll probably give it a shot when it does. Black Myth: Wukong is coming out in August, it also looks really fun.

doing a more completionist playthrough of shadow of the erdtree since my first playthrough was the race against spoilers and my second playthrough was a boss fight highlight reel to show my partner after they got home from visiting friends for a few days.

this sounds like a weird mix of product manager and project manager. Product manager should be out there talking to customers and prioritizing their asks, working with management and customers to figure out feature pricing, working with engineering to figure out how new technology can fit into the product suite. That kind of thing. Project managers are the ones who should be more day to day with engineering and care about jira and processes and aligning teams and whatever.

It would be like the dunk tank but without rule 8. People don't have to subscribe to it. I will continue not posting to it, but you can feel free to make me a mod. I will be there like an absent father.

Also I don't really know where this post should go, I guess we got rid of the user union at some point.

And I don't really understand the point..I guess? Like it's about a group of kids who are part of an oppressed caste of people forced to go to war and fight on behalf of the decadent republic that they are not citizens of. They have a "handler" who sympathizes with them but does nothing but cry. Ostensibly the show seems to be about finding happiness despite your lot in life but I find that really unsatisfactory for a few reasons.

First the world they've established is extreme. The child soldiers are slaves being sent to die as part of a genocide. Second the republic is pretty much demilitarized except for officers who are in charge of the "86ers" who do the fighting. Third the show is about an elite unit and their politically well connected handler. The republic is losing the war that they are sending the 86ers to die in.

To me this seems like a good setup for a show about a revolution, but instead it's a show about accepting that you can't change anything so just try to be happy despite it. I feel like you could get that message across more effectively without making the world so evil. And besides it's not really that interesting of a message. What is the point of making the viewer angry at the world if the characters do nothing? Why do we care about these characters?

Annoying because I'm sure people will keep using the xird site and nitter was the only good way to use it. I still won't make an account though.
