New Dark Cities game on #Kickstarter from March 26

@boardgames@sopuli.xyz

Dark Cities series being the Salem 1692/Tortuga 1667/Deadwood 1876/Bristol 1350/Hollywood 1497 #boardgames by Facade Games. I collected some images cuz I am quite hyped rn :BlahajSpin: The description mentions "betrayal" (the facedown tiles in the gameplay picture might be secret roles) and "finish[ing] as ruler of all of #Rome" (perhaps the player with the one huge token in front of them?). The no re-entry point on the board is consistent with the one person who's been eliminated from the game in the picture. "One takes Rome" really makes it sound like a single winner is declared, like in Deadwood 1876.

#WhatDidYouPlayMondays Fury of Dracula (4th edition)

Tried Fury of Dracula for the first time on Friday. This did not stop us from playing it again yesterday rip. Unlike in other hidden movement games, Dracula's moves are fairly constrained. After the chase starts producing results, Dracula's options become predictable. Because of this, it sometimes feels like the hunters know about Dracula's plans and can organize to intercept him during his travelling. I found this aspect in particular to be extremely thematic.

#WhatDidYouPlayMondays John Company

My second time playing this anti-colonialist title. I like how the mechanics help the players better impersonate the "bad guys" by having them constantly backstab each other while managing the same company. The final outcome is given by a simple ranking by score. Because of this, I am wondering what's preventing a player from having the company go bankrupt as soon as they get a slight edge. Is it the fear of ruining the whole game for everybody? Is it the Company Failure deck being super-random? I would test this myself, but I would need to be in the lead first lol

#WhatDidYouPlayMondays Whitehall Mistery

Longish hidden movement game (think Fury of Dracula) with a very simple gameplay. Compared to the predecessor, Letters from Whitechapel, this title has been greatly streamlined. Mum and dad caught me a few steps away from my last kill :blobcat_sad: Right now I am waiting for Beast to be delivered, as I am trying to get more into the genre

Okay I know I keep playing/talking about this title but isn't it rad how the game lets you choose whether you will be a traitor or not for yourself? Sometimes I realise I don't have the mental energy for keeping the mask on throughout such a long game, so this is a lifesaver.
