Yeah, until there's a confirmation of this by someone in a country that isn't run by a fascist regime that's hell-bent on demonizing renewables, I'm just going to assume it's propaganda.

Not that I'm saying it's impossible, just that I wouldn't trust "US officials" any further than I could throw them.

I wish conservatives really were persecuted as much as they think they are.

Those people are a cancer on humanity and an existential threat to us all

I think it took a bite out of itself

I was referring more to this brand of reich-wing:

Before reading the article I wondered whether this was a targeted attack or if he's just inept, but:

According to journalist Micah Lee, user names and passwords for logging in to various accounts belonging to Schutt have been published at least four times since 2023 in logs from stealer malware. Stealer malware typically infects devices through trojanized apps, phishing, or software exploits.

So not only is he inept enough to regularly keep getting infected with info stealer malware (probably from installing / running idiotic shit), he's inept enough that he doesn't seem to have noticed, or if he did notice he certainly didn't learn from it.

Funny how conservatives so often seem to be absolute dogshit at anything they do

Although now that I think about it, many conservatives would probably think that the Strasserites were definitely too left and woke, at least if they had a fucking clue who the Strasserites were

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Leo_XIV#Views

Prevost opposes euthanasia and abortion.

As bishop of Chiclayo, Prevost opposed the inclusion of curriculum regarding "teachings on gender in schools" in Peru, stating that the "promotion of gender ideology is confusing, because it seeks to create genders that don't exist".

An acquaintance of Pope Leo XIV in Chiclayo, Jesús León Ángeles, noted that he cared for Venezuelan refugees in Peru.

Earlier, in 2012, Prevost made comments opposing homosexuality, saying that popular culture fostered "sympathy for beliefs and practices that are at odds with the Gospel", citing the "homosexual lifestyle" and "alternative families comprised of same-sex partners and their adopted children".

On Twitter, Prevost has criticized abortion, contraceptives, and the death penalty, alongside expressing sympathy for George Floyd and criticism of U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance's policies on immigration.

Because of that last part the right is calling him "woke."

Guess anything short of calling for the genocide of undesirables is "woke" nowadays, and being anywhere left of the Strasserites is "Marxist"

Oh shit, I never realised that was Jones in A Scanner Darkly.

But yes, it's such a good film. Definitely in my top 10 of all time.

Smart and hot, what's not to like?

But yeah, "what dumb people think smart people sound like" seems to be a real theme with conservative influences and politicians.

Same with how conservatives think posturing, bluster, strong-arm tactics, unwillingness to compromise etc. are a sign of strength – "how weak people think strong people act".

But that's the thing: Nazis weren't really even displaced, and many kept their jobs in eg. the judiciary because they were seen as indispensable. The failure of denazification was on display especially egregiously in Austria, where you'd have people openly wearing Nazi uniforms years after the war, and they concoted the idea that they were all just unwilling victims of Nazism instead of enthusiastic participants.

[–] hydroptic@sopuli.xyz 3 points 3 weeks ago

And as we all know, the best way to prevent anyone from attacking you is to make sure you're as defenseless as possible

One of the mistakes Germans (+ occupying forces) and the Austrians made after WW II was pardoning / "washing clean" Nazis after the war. Eg. the Austrian far right party FPÖ was founded by an SS member, and I'd be surprised if the AfD didn't have Nazis in its family tree as well.

People who support fascism can't be rehabilitated, except for a tiny minority.
