The Discuss.Online instance uses lemmy federate for all communities. This shouldn't be necessary for anyone already on Discuss.Online.

Why are so many people downvoting it, then? Not just here but other places it was posted too.

What is this about? I haven't watched it yet. But if someone else has let me know if it needs removed.

It's the only full featured app I could find for iOS. Great for admin and moderator actions on the go.

Artic is incredible

Yeah, I know. I'm not great at shooters, so I thought I could join and skill up with everyone else. I joined as soon as it was released. I was wrong; everyone was way better than me. I figured I'd try again later, but now I'm not so tempted. I might try it randomly one day when I get some extra time.

I only played it for a little early on and had meant to pick it back up. That sucks!

Whats going on with battlebit?

[–] jgrim@discuss.online 2 points 10 months ago

That’s exactly how I feel.

[–] jgrim@discuss.online 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I can add more. I have old.discuss.online right now but I can certainly add more.

[–] jgrim@discuss.online 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I deleted mine when I started discuss.online :(

I hope they find a way to join, even if it's not this instance.

If they contact me I can get their account activated.

Please welcome the new mod for this community, @lazyguru@discuss.online.

I'll still participate in conversations; however, lazyguru will keep an active pulse on the community.

Please show him a warm welcome!

Need moderators

Hello all!

I've created several communities here on discuss.online to help seed the content for growth.

I'm looking for mods to help water them! Gardening analogies are starting to grow on me.

Please DM me if you are interested.

Lemmy isn't known to have the best moderation tools. I have a somewhat useful way to moderate through Grafana. I'll provide dashboards and the ability to create alerts for you.

Community list

Here is the list of communities I'm looking for moderators for:

Please reach out even if you are slightly interested.

For communities already with mods more can be added. Please, reach out to the listed mod to apply.

Create your own!

I have community creation open. Feel free to create and moderate a different community.

Did you know:

It's possible to create blogs on Lemmy.

  1. Create a new community.
  2. Check "Only moderators can post to this community."

This will allow you to create your blog posts while allowing others to comment.

Thanks, Jason

How are so many people already so good at it? Is everyone dying a lot like me?

… do I suck?

This is happening from 8:45 pm ET until 9:30 pm ET.

For status updates go to https://status.discuss.online/.

The update will take from 5 minutes to 1 hour.

You may have intermittent access to the site and API.

There has been a release of Lemmy version 0.18.

There is a very long list of changes for the back end and front end. You can see them here: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/releases

I do plan to upgrade at some point. However, I'm considering waiting until Lemmy 0.18.1. In 0.18 they removed captcha support. This has been a very useful tool to keep bots from taking over the instance. If I upgraded to 0.18 now I'd have to turn on registration applications. I fear that the registration application would be too much friction to gain users.

Please, let me know what you think of this change. An announcement will be made once an upgrade is to take place.

You can view instance status and maintenance schedules here: https://status.discuss.online/.

I’ve been using Lemmy a lot over the past two weeks. I’ve come to understand it and the fediverse. I understand the pros and cons. I kno how I want to improve it and I know what keeps people away.

How do you all feel about it? I wonder how many people create accounts not knowing what it is and then just abandon them.

Is anyone having trouble finding a community they fit well in? Or just trouble in general finding communities?

I think there are a lot of tools that can be added to help improve discovery and navigation. Thankfully, we are very close to a new release of Lemmy. I think the devs have v0.18 in testing. It has a much better UI and other tools.

Thinks will get better. But I would say I’m pretty happy with it as it is.

I haven't played for a few days. Have there been any improvements?
