World is basically reddit lite, full of reddit refugees who want the reddit experience without the reddit baggage.

Lemmy as a whole is left-leaning, sometimes so far left it loops back around (i.e tankies). I'm not an expert on the other instances, but I know well enough to avoid the tankie ones.

I swear, it's not long ago that people were touting that we could finally have decent microtransactions in games thanks to blockchain

Ah. There are two types of these. The national ones that put up a few hundred "local" listings for the same job, skim off the top, and hope to make a cut. Then there are actual local ones that build relationships with companies with businesses in the area and actually find proper talent instead of playing a numbers game. The way they make money is the same, but the former is definitely much less of a sure thing.
