Creator of curl just made a rant about users submitting AI slop vulnerability reports. It has gotten so bad they will reject any report they deem AI slop.

So there’s some data.

There’s a mix of reasons to start a hobby project.

One reason for starting a hobby project is the learning experience. For example, learning a new programming language or a particular tech stack. The goal isn’t to build something useful. Often it can be building things that already exist. For example, a Minecraft server or a Gameboy emulator.

Another reason is to build something useful for you. Maybe you have an idea of a program you feel should exist. Or maybe a program exists, but not in the way you want. Building it yourself can bridge this gap. Hopefully someone else might find your program useful.

Then there’s also the people who do it for fun. It’s kind of like building a model railway. The process of building it can be more fun and rewarding than actually using it.

Regarding Linux, it’s mostly a matter of preference. There are some things that are easier in Linux. Mac and Windows can sometimes be ” overly protective” and prevent the user from doing particular things. Linux has generally fewer of such barriers.

I believe it’s mostly to bypass mainstream social media filters. Words like ”killing” tend to be blocked.

While we’re speaking of putting an end to things, it would be nice to put an end of this meme image. She made a slightly funny face for one frame in a video, and now that’s her legacy.

Even if she was a medical doctor in oncology, it’s unlikely she would perform diagnosis on her own husband

It means they don’t want to have heated arguments which no one is going to agree on either way. Especially not when the racist uncle is around.

The way Eurovision voting works is that each voter get 20 points to distribute their vote. I suspect most “ordinary” people distribute their points across multiple artists because they can’t decide on one artist, while Israel supporters distribute all their 20 points to Israel.

Then I suspect most people watching Eurovision don’t vote, while most people supporting Israel vote for Eurovision - even if they don’t watch the competition.

I’ve also heard Israel did targeted ad campaigns urging people to vote for Israel.

So I think it’s less of a conspiracy and more of a foul play.

I’m not sure. Looks like these assets make up a large part of the game’s design identity. I doubt they just hand this work to some person and just go with whatever first version they produced. This kind of thing should be iterated on with feedback from relevant stakeholders.

It’s not a good look. It’s sloppy.

There’s also the argument whether games really need that high of a budget. It feels like there’s little correlation between the budget of a game, and its success (or quality).

Sony could’ve invested in five or ten more Helldivers 2 scaled games, instead of wasting it all on the Concord flop.

I’m a huge fan of Doom Eternal. It really proved what movement shooters are capable of.

Haven’t played Dark Ages yet, and I’m not super eager to play it.

I expected Dark Ages to be a middle ground of 2016 and Eternal, but it seems like they’re straying away from movement shooters with the ”stand and fight” tagline. That’s disappointing, because I feel like there’s so much more to explore with movement shooters. Just look at Ultrakill for example.

I will wait it out a bit. It still seems like a fun game. Next on my play list is Expedition 33.

What’s more frustrating is when the password creation page is silently cutting off too long passwords and don’t inform you about it.

Internet became bad when it got controlled by engagement seeking corporations.

One thing many forget about critical thinking is to also be critical of your own thoughts as well. Too many people think it’s only about attacking other people’s opinion.
