It would be whataboutism if I changed subjects but I’m pointing out both companies are quite similar when it comes to distributing proprietary software, openwashing and relying vendor lock-in.

What you’re calling Proton is mostly Wine which was developed by countless people unaffiliated with Valve and funded primarily by Codeweavers over past couple of decades.

There’s no lesser evil here, Valve is out there to make money by any means necessary, including marketing online gambling to children. Which is also why feature like this will never be implemented in Steam - they have a monopoly so why would they make it easier for others.

This is meant to communicate change because water wasn’t as wet as you’d imagine.

I adjusted the title slightly because there are no guillotines involved despite what I was lead to believe.

Yeah, people gravitate towards drugs to self-medicate various traumas [1]. It is common for trauma to cause bad eating habits. [2]

I’ve been mostly a daily smoker for a couple of years and still get munchies btw.

„Breaks community rules” is likely coming from Voyager users because the app presents it as a predefined option for report reason. People likely assume that it’s some kind of an integrated reporting flow. This issue was raised recently in Voyager community: https://lemmy.world/post/35221872

If you’re a publisher only then RSS/Atom makes much more sense, especially if you want to retain ownership and control over content you created. If control is not important to you and you want to incorporate social aspect into your website (comments, reactions) then ActivityPub seems like a convenient way to go about it.

One thing that I strongly disagree with author of the blog post is the discoverability aspect. Yes, initial federation kind of sucks but at the same time your readers on Mastodon will be able to boost it and increase your reach.

Even a proportional tit-for-tat is very long overdue but I very much doubt anything will come out of this because nobody wants to take ownership for hard decisions and Russia knows this too.
