An investigative report reveals that hundreds of Gazans, including families of suspected Fatah terrorists, and young men not suspected of anything were jailed in detention camps in 1971 for almost a year

In 1971. Do you have an example from this century? Most Gazans are 18 years old or younger.

That said, I’m sure you’re proposing the absurdity of somehow returning all of Australia, which is not possible and no one supports that.

Similarly, returning Israel’s land is not reasonably possible and no one would support that excepting radicalised Palestinians.

That's precisely what Hamas is demanding in Israel. Hamas is the reigning government in Gaza and according to polling is not only popular but would win an open election in the West Bank.

What part is a lie? All of this is easily verifiable.

What part isn't true?

  • There have been no new settlement in Gaza Since the Disengagement?
  • Gaza has the 1967 borders.
  • All settlers in the Gaza strip were evicted
  • The Gaza Disengagement Plan was an honest attempt at Peace by Israel's left wing coalition?
  • Violence from Hamas and originating in Gaza has increased since it took over the territory.
  • Violence from Hamas has increased since it took over the territory, not just against Israel but against Egypt too.
  • Violence from Hamas has increased since it took over the territory, not just against Israel but against West Bank too.

A Napoleonic era artillery barrages could flatten Gaza in a couple of weeks. They're clearly not attempting to genocide all Gazans. To believe that requirea the belief that the IDF is the most incompetent military force to ever walk the planet.

And if say, the blockade is lifted and even more rockets start to be delivered and fired at Israel. What would happen in the negotiated peace?

[–] mwguy 0 points 2 years ago

Since the end of the cold war Israelis have pushed her to peace. Since the assassination of Rabin Israel, while divided on the issue, has largely been willing to go down a path to peace, independent coexistence. As evidenced by the various peace deals they've signed to that extend.

The violence from Gaza after the 2004 deal, which established the 67 borders and evicted all settlers from Gaza; has unfortunately caused Israel to stop believing peace is possible.

Gaza was a prove it deal, if there's no peace im Gaza there's no reason to believe a similar action in the West Bank would lead to peace.

Imagine not being able to read Hamas's charter.

[–] mwguy 0 points 2 years ago (6 children)

Because it's not actively happening in Gaza. Gaza has the 1967 borders and no settlements. Israel evicted every Jewish settler in the mid 2000s at an honest effort of peace. And Gaza was suppose to be the model for peace and a 2 state solution in the region.

Instead of peace there's been constant, increasing conflict coming from Gaza. And not just against Israel, but against Egypt and the West Bank too.

Gaza has the 1967 borders. And in 2004-2005 had all of its Jewish settlements forcibly evicted by Israel.

So most of the population of Gaza (under 18) cannot have had their land stolen from them, as Israel hasn't stolen any land since then.

[–] mwguy 0 points 2 years ago

That's horrendous. And is part of the reason why violence in the West Bank hasn't gotten the support for reprisals like violence from Gaza has.

Do you support Genociding the current European Australian population to return the land to the Aboriginals? Because that's what Hamas and the majority of Palestinians want and have been working towards for decades.
