I found one of these last year for $150 cad. https://crtdatabase.com/crts/sony/sony-kv-24fs100

Don't give up!!

I'm a 90s kid and I still am moving my CRT around like this

If you don't yet own a sony trinitron, buy one while you can still afford it. These things are skyrocketing in value rn

I just put lights on my fig tree lol

Dad ran an auto repair shop for 40 years and his dad before him and I've had the pleasure of watching it all unfold. My dad refused to allow me to inherit the shop and told me to pursue a different career for my entire life

Maybe it's possible to make EVs that can be repaired, but just with the state of humanity I don't think this is ever going to happen

You don't actually own the car you bought, it's impossible to repair via third party

I think EVs only exist to bail out the failing car industry

I also think fire risks are underestimated and unlike a normal car fire you can't just put it out with an extinguisher. I live in BC and one day there's going to be an EV fire on a ferry and the entire narrative is going to change

I also think they are just plain boring. I hate modern cars entirely but EVs have such a numbed down driving experience that it's just depressing. In the future I'll probably just stop driving cars entirely. I live in a pretty bikeable area but the only reason I drive is because I simply enjoy driving my sports car over a bike

I think electric cars are terrible

Iashouldn't have to explain why I bought it at all lol

I need a truck. None of those vehicles are going to haul a cord of firewood

I live on vancouver island. Guarantee it doesn't

What am I supposed to do with a station wagon? The front bumper would be gone in minutes

I need a truck. Not everyone has the luxury of paved roads

You're the obnoxious dickhead. That's one of the reasons I'm asking this question. I want lights where I can see + not blind people which is why I will probably go oem

You suck

I bought this truck used and it has aftermarket headlights I am fed up with. They look cool but constant issues with electronics and also the housing scratched so easily that it makes the truck look cheap.

Should I replace them with OEM or is there actually a good aftermarket option for headlights?

Just obtained my first ps2 and so far my gf and I like playing:

  • test drive eve of destruction

  • ssx tricky

  • lotr return of the king

  • the warriors

No, none of them are to be honest, and I don't think any of them have girlfriends either. Think lemmy type people. Lol

I'm probably just an asshole nobody wants to talk to, but I can hardly even get a reply text from anyone anymore. A couple people have told me that they are just feeling burnt out/depressed/etc and don't have even enough energy to answer a message anymore. But I've also had some long time friends just entirely ghost me in the last year as well with no explanation. It feels like I'm surrounded by NPCs. I've basically just stopped reaching out to anyone at this point. Outside of my work, literally the only people I talk to are my parents, sister, and my girlfriend. Everyone else seems dead inside. I used to have at least 10 people who I could call on a moments notice and all of those people are gone.

https://www.castanetkamloops.net/news/Kamloops/584219/Leader-of-upstart-provincial-party-visits-Kamloops-calls-for-end-to-Aboriginal-title-rights

A friend in kamloops was telling me that he's not sure he has a valid title on his property in the near future and this was the first I've heard about this. Did a little reading and I'm confused what to believe.

Would this actually change property rights in canada or is this just alarmist? Hear a lot of opinions claiming that messing with property rights is a slippery slope with unintended consequences even though this case is well intentioned.

Are owners right in thinking that their properties would be rendered unsellable? Why are owners saying they should stop paying property taxes now?

While it doesn't appear that the cowichan tribe is interested in booting people out of their homes, could they, if they wanted to? Who would be responsible for paying out those owners if anyone?

Why is cowichan band entitled to land in richmond, because they fished there 150 years ago? What about the band who lives there presently? My understanding is that the richmond location was the cowichan "summer village" and that they went back to the island during the colder months.

It feels like climate crisis in a way, where people are wanting change only until it personally affects them, and I can't help but see it with reconciliation too. I also wonder that if this could have the effect of undoing any progress so far on reconciliation. The average tim hortons canadian isn't going to fully grasp the situation and it's just going to result in racism I'm thinking, the more traction this gets.

At least here in vancouver, if you go to east hastings almost every single homeless person is either white or indigenous, despite the official data saying something different. I know why indigenous face these issues, but why so many white people? Is it because most of them originated in a rural area and moved here? The homeless demographic looks completely different than the demographic of the city itself.

Hop the border to seattle and it seems like homeless people are usually black or latino, which makes a lot more logical sense to me.

He mostly fixes domestic trucks but gets japanese cars sometimes too. He rarely takes jobs on euro cars.

Can you recommend a "professional" grade code scanner?

I want to buy this for him for xmas so hoping to not break my wallet too much here.

Any thoughts on the scanners on aliexpress etc? Not opposed to chinese stuff, just needs to be simple enough for an older guy to use and be up to date for most common newer vehicles.

He is pretty comfortable with using his android phone - could we get same functionality and save a bunch of money buying something that works with a smartphone instead of a tablet style scanner?

Canada here, btw, if that detail means anything.

After years of blowing past all signage I just tried to actually obey the 20km/h and then the 5km/h up the ramp to the drop off area.

20km/h on that straightaway feels comical and the folks behind me were visibly annoyed. The slowest I was able to drive up the ramp asking me to do 5km/h in first gear without stalling was 8km/h.

I would like to see someone at BC ferries demonstrate this being done and tell me with a straight face that 5km/h is reasonable

That's 3mph for you americans

Not sure the point of this but what car do i need to buy in order to remain complacent? Because my 400hp car cannot drive uphill at 5km/h

Like fresh farm duck eggs. Pepper's used to stock them but haven't seen them there in a bit

My truck is 7.5ft tall but one time I was placed on the upper deck with like maybe 1 inch of space to the ceiling. I told ticket person I'm over height and they said no you're fine on this specific ship

I forgot what ship that was

Ever since, I ask the ticket person which ship that is but nobody knows the answer

I want to specifically use this ship so I can sleep in my truck on the upper deck

Do you know the answer?

$650 seems like a really good deal to me.
