What if the workers at these shops made $30+/hr like other gov positions?

The "tim hortons infrastructure" already exists

This is not nonsense. How did I waste your time?

I don't think you comprehend how important tim hortons is in canada. It's not a beer lol

It also doesn't exactly have to remain as just a coffee shop. In remote areas of canada, tims is the community gathering space even with its shittiness

I don't have a plan for the first questions but yes menu changes will be televised on CSPAN. And yes we will waste time on it in the house like we do with name calling etc. The poutine made at tims will be free of all poutine crimes.

The thing is it's not failing because they exploit temporary foreign workers. Tim hortons gets richer by exploiting others.

Why does it matter if they get some money in return for a good investment on our part? They are stealing money from us anyway in its current state.

Those downvoting, please tell me why you think this idea is bad. When I present this idea to people irl they say wow why is nobody really pushing for this.

Tim hortons going downhill is such an obvious stain on our country and people seem to just let it slide.

The only valid critique i've heard is "that's dumb"

I just sent this email to my MP and you should too.

Dear Mrs. Elizabeth May,

I’m writing to propose something that might sound crazy at first—but I believe it's an idea worth serious national conversation: the Government of Canada should buy Tim Hortons and nationalize it.

Tim Hortons is undeniably a Canadian symbol. It’s been part of our shared national experience for decades. But the reality is, it’s not a Canadian company anymore. Since being sold to a foreign parent company, it’s felt less and less like the Tim Hortons we all grew up with.

It’s not just about ownership. It doesn’t employ Canadians like it used to—especially seniors, who often worked there part-time and genuinely loved the social connection and dignity that came with that work. Now, many of those jobs have disappeared or changed beyond recognition.

Visitors from around the world still come here excited to try “Tims,” thinking they’re about to experience something uniquely Canadian. What they often get instead is low-quality food and a disorganized, underpaid workforce. It reflects badly—not just on the company, but on Canada itself.

Nationalizing Tim Hortons could restore pride in something we all grew up with. It could mean better jobs, higher standards, and a stronger connection to Canadian communities and culture.

I hope you’ll consider raising this idea with your colleagues. At the very least, it’s time we started talking seriously about what we want our national institutions—including cultural icons like Tim Hortons—to look like.

Sincerely,

My name Address Phone number

Don't spread this like crazy but Don told me in Seattle two weeks ago that they have a new song and a new album is potentially really happening

He jokingly said it will sound like tears for fears

Why censor usernames?

It's a meme but you just tickled my autism.

It gets better with every single trip. I remember my first wilderness backpacking. Horrible. No sleep. Anxiety. Sun stroke.

Hundreds of trips later I sleep out of my backpack than I do in my apartment in the city. Every time you go out you dial in your gear and strategy a little more.

The thing I hate the most is not being clean which is why I don't usually do more than 3 nights out there alone anymore. After several days of sweating I just stop having any sort of fun. And I'm a wimp for cold water and have no idea how these people are jumping into alpine lakes.

That said, though, I like your meme because it discourages other people to try it. It's hard enough to get permits for certain trails!

If you don't want to be asked anything then you shouldn't tell people to ask you anything. What are you here for then?

Nothing I said was insensitive or unkind. Maybe if you read it again slower you will see it is exactly the opposite. Why would I waste my time typing anything if I didn't care about you?

I just noticed it's closed and I was such a fan of the place whenever I visited from Canada. Very sad.

I am about to take a month mental health break from work and I want to trade houses with someone in Iceland. I'm on vancouver island so it's a good trade I think.

Has anyone ever done similar and how did you do it?

My daddario cable just started wigging out and this is like the 5th cable ive been though in 7 years. I'm hard on my gear in general. What cables should I order next in particular?

30 year old male, divorced last year after 9 years. Got dumped because I drink too much apparently. She was supposed to move back to her home country but ended up staying in this city.

I'm a member of the music scene and so is she so all my friends are her friends. So naturally because I'm not the pretty one, she gets all sympathy and I'm now a lonely motherfucker rejected by a lot of people I once called friends.

She hooked up with a dude who is an actual drug addict and last night. While trying to watch the band, they're making out like 5ft behind me. I shouldnt care because these people are quite literally losers compared to me but I guess I'm jealous someone cares about her and nobody cares about me.

When I went home last night alone I actually thought about ending things. I don't really know what to do going forwards. Do I just end my hobby of music because I can't deal with my jealousy? Every gig she is there and she's got a line of guys wanting to be with her while I'm left to rot alone.

Should I sell my house and quit my job and move? That's what I was up all night pondering. I feel as if this place is too small for the both of us, and she won.
