Your posture on a sofa will be different than sitting on an office chair, so the tv should be off the ground a little, maybe a foot or two.
I sit in a recliner and use my tv as a second monitor. It’s on a 20” high stand and it works great for me.

Pro tip: two fingers from the same hand won't work nearly as well as one finger from each hand (assuming you have 2 and only 2 hands).
