As usual, if you're an American, it's worth calling your senators and asking them to vote to preserve California's vehicle emissions standards; they're used by states which cover about half the country.

 

I'll note that the bill has yet to pass the Senate. If you're an American, call your Senators and ask them to vote against it.

 

Contrary to Mr. Trump’s statements, the crosses are not gravesites for farmers and were not permanently placed along the road. Footage posted to social media before the remembrance event, in early September 2020, shows people setting up the white crosses, and Google Street View images from 2023 indicate they have since been taken down.

Talk with people you know. Let them know what is going on. Call your congressmember. Visit your congressmembers district office. Get people organized to turn out and turn out others during the midterms next year.

We dont know motive for sure yet, but a bunch of them have decided that IVF is a form of abortion because not every clump of cells gets implanted.

Yeah, GM was working with California in a fairly constructive way for several years. This is a major flip from that.

It's a change from their recent position; they were one of the automakers which worked with California on an ICE phase-out starting 2019.

Otherwise unusable wind and solar exist seasonally in some places, and the same goes for geothermal in Iceland where climeworks operated.

This kind of thing makes sense as a research operation, not as a commercial endeavor right now.

Nah. Its that of any large group, there is a risk somebody is bought off. So having a few more legislators more than the minimum protects you from that.

Or...the actual problem is that every single republican is opposed to doing things that help Americans, so with a 50/50 Senate, it took buying off only one Democrat to force stuff out

The actual path to good policy is more and better Democrats. Enough that the failings of one or three can't sink legislation
