As far as I can tell, the whole thing was praising the dad.

When Harris had to pick a VP, all media kinda agreed it should be a white male, to balance the fact that she is black and a woman. So Walz is the DEI hire. in c/showerthoughts@lemmy.world

DEI doesn't mean diversity in their eyes. It means unqualified.

How is it funny? The premise of the joke is she's not black. Where's the humor?

Would native speakers still understand words that are basically the same in Japanese as English? in c/japaneselanguage@sopuli.xyz

My experience is no. Now sure why, but in your example, the a sounds are difference. rah-djio vs ray-dio.

I disagree with this. A person's heritage can be important. Racists attitudes can grow out of not understand a person's culture. of course, a person's heritage can also NOT be important. People do lose connections to the homeland and this seems to be more common in America.
