I hate Google's material design with a passion. Everything looks exactly the same, and many buttons and other touch elements are indistinguishable from highlights and general design elements.
I think it has been there for a bit, but was still in alpha. Preferred.social had it running for a while, that's their official test instance. But good to see it working!
This article is a thinly veiled ad paired with fearmongering to get gullible users to buy the shit phones they sell (or not, some people have been on "waitlists" for 5+ years after providing a full payment).
Granted, their phones are fully open, but have next to no apps.
Personally I'll stick with Android 12, rooted, and see what the future brings.
Is the API active? I want to use PieFed over Lemmy, but don't like to join so called "flagship instances", they always go overboard with moderation at some point.
So instead of joining piefed.social I signed up with .au, only to find out that the admin never bothered to activate the api, so can't use any apps, and posts aren't federating outwards properly.

To use a neti pot you use a saline solution. If you don't trust the water you got at home (boiled first, naturally, both to sterilize and allow for easier dissolution of the salt), you can just buy a bag of NaCl solution in any pharmacy instead.
Just put the sealed bag into a pot of warm water first to bring it up to room temperature or slightly above. Flushing your sinuses with cold water ain't fun.

He banned people from Somalia, Eritrea, Venezuela, Myanmar, etc. - not exactly known to be prolific travelers. So I doubt that has an impact in itself.
His border controls, detention of random tourists from first world countries and general unpleasantness will be a much greater deterrent.

In Germany it was pretty unusual to eat in school at all, you had breakfast at home (7AM-ish), school starts at 8 and finished at 2PM latest, usually 1.15PM. We all went home for lunch afterwards, and that was that.
With a VPN. They might know you are using one, but everything you do remains obscured.
At that point I'd just get a dumb phone for calls and a tablet with data only SIM for the rest.
