Joe Biden should drop out but I understand why they aren't replacing him. The Democrats are the most risk adverse political party possible. The question isn't should he drop out but who replaces him. Pick the wrong person and you risk alienating key parts of your base. Do they even beat Trump? I think there's a correct candidate who meets all the parameters to win this year but the democrats are cowards and aren't willing to take the risk.

plus they have the copium of "he won last time."

masks are a good litmus test cuz it's something that actually makes a material difference at the cost of your social capital and looking cool.

i disagree bc you can make wearing a mask look good (especially if you wear a cloth one over a n95.) that's one of the things that annoys me about people not masking, it's actually a really good accessory if you put a little thought into it (and you know, it helps saves lives.)

The trolley problem makes sense in the context it was developed for, which is to be an ethical thought experiment. It's got nothing to do with politics unless you're just a lazy thinker (which Biden fans pretty much are.)

She doesn't though. People in the US openly talk about sex online a lot (even in front of children) but she only goes after queer people and allies saying queer people should be allowed to exist.

Pride took out the Kink Castle and we will take you out next

idk about this. Following this logic a cis het dude into feet or BDSM would be queer and I don't think they should count bc they aren't being discriminated against the way a LGBT person is. I do think there's certain kinks/ways cis het people could be considered queer but I think this definition obscures why Pride exists to begin with.

I think part of queerness is not fitting in traditional gender and/or sexuality roles. Like is the libs of Tiktok lady coming after y'all just for existing?

I'm not hating on y'all and you're definitely welcome at Pride imo but it feels weird to say everyone who has a kink is queer when kinks are so normalized that it would basically mean everyone is queer at that point. I also feel like that definition makes things weird for asexual people (who definitely are a part of the community bc they do face similar discrimination and marginalization.)

I hate this discourse but seeing it pop up on Reddit several years ago made me delete my account so I should thank it too

this is partially why people in rural areas end up being so conservative to begin with. when the government doesn't do anything but lecture you about how good you have it while the Republicans are giving some explanation for why things suck for you (even if it's wildly reactionary and clearly wrong), you're probably gonna end up right wing since the fundamental right wing premise that government doesn't work seems true when the government never works for your benefit.

I live grew up in rural Missouri and if they did something like that here, the democrats would flip the state. rural voters are starving for the government to do ANYTHING to help them. even the DNC special where whatever is means tested to shit would go a long way to improving Biden's performance in rural areas but nope, we can't do that, we gotta waste a bunch of money on ads people are gonna ignore instead.

It's all very predictable and another 4 years of Biden won't prevent these things happening, just prolong them and probably make it worse somehow by bottling it up for longer.

it would likely manufacture consent for these things happening much like it has manufactured consent for libs to want stricter border laws and mass surveillance.

Is it? campus protests are spreading all over the country so it's rapidly getting to the point where a lot of young people at least know people who were at the protests and seeing the Democrats crack down on them looks just as bad as project 2025 (which also the Democrats don't really bring up that often IRL so many don't even know what it is.)
