Oh, that's a deep cut.

For those not in the know, HP meters in Diamond and Pearl (I think also in Platinum, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, and maybe Black and White 1 and 2) were animated based off the actual HP number instead of the proportion visually. So it wasn't "remove 29 HP which is 1/5 of the HP at 3 pixels per frame" it was "remove exactly 29 HP at 1 HP per frame" even if 1 HP was smaller than a pixel.

It meant that HP bars for creatures with more HP literally took longer to animate, even if it was a one hit KO where it didn't have to calculate the remaining health or amount of pixels left to show or anything.

The best response to the "challenge" in the second image I've seen was a furry fetish digital artist that went into the woods and used a stick, a knife, and a lighter to make a big titty dragon lady charcoal drawing on a rock.

The line between "assisted by tools" and "the work was done by the tools" can be fuzzy as tech keeps advancing, but AI image generation is quite clearly past that line.

Just idle curiousity: Any particular reason for iocaine vs. any of the other similar projects (found this list on the iocaine homepage) out there?

I've been thinking of picking up something I can install rockbox on for a while, but I've been getting a lot of mileage out of Youtube Music Revanced (hacked yt music app with no ads without paying for premium).

That said,I've been putting off replacing my phone (screen is held on with tape) because I can't easily get a new one with a headphone jack. So maybe new phone without, use bluetooth and ytmusic vanced in the car, then a dedicated old school mp3 player for non-car listening.

Please do not use your "foot" for pegging play.

You just had to remind me of an ancient internet "shock" video where an amputee uses their ankle stump to "stump" the asshole of someone in a sex swing.

As prize, you get the knowledge that video exists.

Please clear that timer after.

My wife always does this, but then leaves the cook timer sitting there with a few seconds left. Eventually our microwave decides to change the display of remaining time to "Food".

Can't tell you how many times I come home to find it's Food o'clock.

But hey, Google has managed to make its spellchecker unlearn the difference between "its" and "it's", I suspect by plugging it into a language model. I'm not here to say it's all good.

Reminds me of 4chan figuring out how to mess with how Google was transcribing books when Google was effectively crowdsourcing transcription through recaptcha at the same time m00t had to add it to the site to combat spam bots.

Recaptcha would show two words, and with some practice it was pretty easy to tell which one was the one it already knew and which one was the "new" word it was looking for human help to transcribe. They found that it would accept any input for the "new" word. So 4chan users started using the n-slur, because of course they would, and they actually had enough people doing it to effect some books Google was transcribing.

Yep. There are some people who will argue that it means any use of AI while coding, but the original meme was about using AI to code without even checking the code it gave you.

It was an obviously dumb idea meant as a joke, but somehow a bunch of idiots took it seriously and now we have shit like this.

Pat Boone's album In A Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy is entirely this.

Judas Priest's You've Got Another Thing Coming, Metallica's Enter Sandman. Fucking Smoke On The Water, Holy Diver, Crazy Train.

All in a kind of big band jazz style. Great great stuff.

From the Jet Set Radio Future Soundtrack. Whole thing is great, along with most of Naganuma's tracks.

Yoko Taro is the creative director behind the Nier and Drakengard series, and he has released a lot of supplemental material across a variety of mediums over the years in Japan. Accord's Library is a site that is dedicated to finding this material, archiving it, and translating it.

Today, in Accord's Library Discord, they announced that they received a Cease and Desist from Square-Enix, and on Oct 31, the Library and Gallery sections of the site will be closed and taken offline.

Announcement TextDearest Recorders and Observers of Accord's Library.

These past few years have been a pleasure, but we regret to inform you all that we've been contacted by the Square Enix Legal Team. And after some private communications, based on the outlined requirements we have come to the conclusion that Accord's Library must close its doors by the end of the month. While we are sad to have to go, we also must respect the wishes of the Legal Team.

The Library and Gallery will remain opened for the next 2 weeks and will be officially closed on Oct 31.

We hope to continue spending time with you all, and other fans in the future through our Discord Server, which we plan to keep opened.

On behalf of the entire Council for Accord's Library, we sincerely thank you for your support and friendship over the years. We hope that you will continue to use the discord, though we understand if this is where we part ways.

From the very bottom of our hearts, we will be forever grateful to everyone who's volunteered their time to help build Accord's Library into what it was. Thank you to all of our Transcribers, Translators, and most of all, all of you for sticking with us.

Take care of yourselves out there. Glory to Mankind.

If anyone is skilled with backing up sites, any assistance would be appreciated. Even if it's just to point at the right tool for the job (been almost a decade since I've backed up part of a site).

Shoutout to !helloharu@lemmy.world making the original post.

Now that romhacking.net is (effectively) dead, what sites are everyone using to keep up with new releases?

Have any of the fan continuation projects really risen beyond simply rehosting the DB that was put up on archive.org?
