According to the latest rumor, some Asian darknet overlords are responsible.

They have billions in non-fungible digital money, and they are moving it into Monero because the Alphabet boys came down on them.

Haowang Guarantee was larger than the Silk Road, larger than Hydra, just the "largest illicit online marketplace to have ever operated", with $27 Billion of transactions since launching in 2021.

Let me answer that. We need a hidden underground forum that doesn't autoblock any subject heading that ends in a question, one that allows Tor and VPN log ins, one without a stupid Reddit CQS (Contributor Quality Score) that rates experienced posters with tens of thousands of karma points as "low quality" just for logging in from an ip address Reddit doesn't like or for having an email address that doesn't end in yahoo, gmail or outlook.com. One where you don't have to PM a moderator and beg them to allow your post, one without bots (created by Reddit and moderators here) crawling for reasons to block your post, one that doesn't censor free speech, one that doesn't have moderators who get lost in the weeds telling us that according to section 5, subsection A, paragraph 4, line 57, this or that subject is off topic "but I'll allow it anyway", losing sight of the fact that monero is supposed to be about freedom. How about one that won't get rid of PMs and force chat upon us in June? Lastly, how about a forum where we won't have to jump through all of these hoops for the privilege of having all of the great knowledge of our discussions here (that we provide to Reddit for free) be sold to Google for millions of dollars to train Gemini, their LLM AI.

Oh, and one that doesn't kill 3rd party apps.

So are we all stupid for remaining here? I think so. The only reason I'm still here is because 345,601 other XMR users refuse to migrate to monero.town or some other place and this is the only place my posts get any real exposure.

This is only Number Go Up!

This is not real adoption!

.... (other similar truths that seem like nonsense right now)

NGL it's terrible to see the number go up exactly when you have no xmr left...

Hai hai! New to monero.town

so few days ago got perma'd from reddit as a whole for replying to this thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/1kri62r/rbitcoin_even_tries_to_censor_rmonero/
the post was something along those lines:

Upvoted
and shared: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=106233489&f=383&p=674357996
the Monero thread over there been updated over the years as well: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=106240674&f=383
It dont have any reach so just posting more like as a #DearDiary at this point lmao but Reddit has became so unusable with the constant automod bs anyways, at least /r/Bitcoin can't censor the other parts of the internet that aint Reddit
Bitcoin has officially became an altcoin when Bisq's daily volume was overtaken by Haveno
after Monero already replaced Bitcoin in the circular economy and also on the fully legal market sides of things as well:
https://finbold.com/cryptocurrency-dethrones-btc-payments-in-europes-biggest-bitcoin-store/

the given reason for the reddit-wide ban was "didnt use np link" which i didnt even linked to a reddit thread LMAO, bs made up excuse, confirmed psyop, literally my whole post history was only /r/monero and /r/xmrtrader, literally no other subreddit, just tryna being helpful here and there or whatever lol

anyways, been in the community for a while now, but pretty much just playing the videogames, aint really involved in any techy shiz or what, well, for awhile few years ago was running the bridges for IRC/Keybase/Discord/Matrix for both the Haveno & Monero channels, was under the name of SpaceKitty420 but that's pretty much it tbh

like, i literally just play the videogames, for TFT on Set 13 few months ago climbed the accounts "BuyMonero" to emerald on like all the servers iirc so NA, EUNE, EUW, OCE, i peaked grandmaster/chally few years ago but idk, i just get bored too quickly nowadays... so just being like here and there tryna teach people about the tech or whatever, giving out Monero stickers in meatspaces or whatever lmao

and here's a long ass post with some history / fun facts that even kraken's ex CEO (jesse powell) started his business selling items from the videogame diablo 2 before making the centralized exchange Kraken:
https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=102666297&f=383&p=656923647
(which is what that forum is for, trading of ingame items with the currency "fg" (forum gold) that been active since 2003 and still is today)

also, despite having ran the bridges for the monero ecosystem for a lil while, maintaining monero thread on videogaming forum or whatever, even doing monero giveaways over the years, not a single donation came my way ever over the years while donation address always been public:

42oK1ttyF1nMK5T8u8RXmabV3wu48jrKh17k8XHANnwzLjoY5EsriXJNPLWDbQTNGUbUJETcJYxXT7uVqNtJs12sTqdwzCd

but whatever i guess, just living life, we chillin

"be the change u wanna see in the world"

I am seeing a lot of posts about technical issues, like:

I saw that the migration to the latest lemmy version was coming in the next weeks (?).

Is there a need to ask the community to pitch in some donations or tech support?

Could this all be an elaborate plan from a state actor to takeover our 100-people community of uncensorable monero fans? ;-)

monero.town is a server in the 'fediverse'. The software used by this server tries to be the equivalent to reddit. There is an equivalent to Youtube too, called peertube.

Servers you might like: peertube.wtf tilvids.com https://voluntarytube.com/videos/browse

There was a time when we were still trying to figure-out what to do when Binance or other CEXs delist Monero.

There was a time when we were still discussing when would p2p DEXs be available for Monero.

Haveno is live and shining at retoswap.com

  • They're dropping Civitai because of the salacious material being sold on the site
  • Perfect XMR use case?
  • Will we see a sudden spike in demand for XMR?
  • Anyone know how much money Civitai is taking in from users (not capital investors)?
  • Every day we're seeing more and more need for unstoppable, uncensorable, sound money!

When checking in other instances, like lemmy.zip, we can see that monero.town has federation problems. Not all posts are shown (very few).

This is a big problem for the fediverse. My instance admin told me that they contacted the monero.town admin about it but didn’t receive any answer. Monero.town runs an old version of lemmy as well

I’m wondering if we should create a new Monero community on another instance that properly federates. It would bring a lot.

Combining a finite supply, anti-inflationary mechanisms, and military-grade encryption strategies positions Monero as exceptional in current inflationary monetary conditions.

Monero demonstrates rising recognition based on its recent market activities.

I've been noticing some delays with Monero (XMR) transactions lately. Confirmations seem to be taking longer than usual. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any insights or updates would be appreciated. Stay safe.

I was inspired by this post to try to think in XMR instead of United States Dollar or any other fiat currency.

This user script will detect anything that looks like $XX.XX from web pages, and send it to the coinmarketcap api to lookup the current XMR price.

Privacy beware

You are sending any dollar value that appears in your browser to Coin Market Cap including values that might appear in your banking websites. If you don't want Coin Market Cap to know how much you have in the bank, then edit the script to only work on white listed websites or blacklist certain websites.

Be careful with using user scripts, do not trust me or anyone else that tells you to paste some code in a user script on your browser. Please read the source code, it isn't that long.

How to install

  1. Install a user script extension such as Violent Monkey
  2. Click the Violent Monkey button
  3. New Script
  4. Paste the code from the gist
  5. Get a coinmarketcap api and paste it on the appropriate line
  6. Save and close

Dollar values will now appear as XMR values!

New research paper about HavenoDex shows trades between Monero and Bitcoin are traceable.

Abstract:

...We further identify and report on a privacy vulnerability in the recently popularized Haveno exchange, demonstrating that certain Haveno trades could be detected, allowing transactions to be linked across the Monero and Bitcoin blockchains.

Tari Mainnet is Live! (MT 350)

TODAY'S 🎙SHOW:Douglas Tuman has a discussion about Tari, a new blockchain project, with the founders Naveen and Ricardo (@FluffyPony). The conversation covers multiple aspects of the project's development and launch. Naveen emphasizes Tari's unique features, including its accessibility and user-friendly interface through Tari Universe. He explained that Tari offers default confidentiality powered by a minimal implementation, making it different from other protocols like Ethereum or Solana. Ricardo detailed the technical aspects of Tari's privacy features, comparing them to Monero but noting that Tari's privacy model is intentionally different. Both founders highlighted the relationship with Monero, explaining that Tari's merge mining feature has already contributed to increasing Monero's hash rate to an all-time high. They emphasized that Tari is not competing with Monero but rather complementing it in the ecosystem.

Hey everyone! It’s been a huge month for us at CypherGoat. Since our public launch in March, we’ve been moving fast and April was no exception. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

From a development standpoint we integrated with two new exchanges (BitcoinvVN, swapuz), completely redesigned our webui, as well as listed more than 20 new coins.

To celebrate these achievements we are running a $100 XMR giveaway on twitter:

Join the giveaway here

We are extremely grateful for the support we have gotten so far from this great community and can't wait to see what is next in this amazing journey!
