Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. 😇 Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. 📽️ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. 📋 Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      ✅ Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. 📬 Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 🖐) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 🖐) will be removed.
  7. 🏴‍☠️ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      Sí, por favor [Spanish/Español]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Crazy how many folks can't scroll past something they aren't interested in. And not thoughtful critiques. Just whining really. Their delicate eyes witnessed it, thus they were compelled to come make a comment.

I don't think I'd ever find it appropriate to whine in the comments of a user's post, over a post breaking no rules. I have, and would... just scroll by.

I don't see "No Pizza Cake" in the rules... why would someone think it would just never show up?

[–] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 22 points 11 months ago (1 children)

i mean, the best punishment for bad art is lack of engagement.

I don't think pizzacake is a troll (as in makes bad comics so it gets negative engagement), but here we are.

People complaining about her in the comments actually helps her.

if you don't like it, just move along, don't give hold her in your head like that zen story about crossing the river with a girl.

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 22 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I think it's basically internet law at this point, if Pizzacake is posted, cranky men must make it known that they find her (and her comics) cRinGe and mEdiOcRe and also she's a mAnHaTer (dontchaknow).

[–] FreakinSteve@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

And yet they subscribe to her OF

[–] mutual_ayed@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Methinks he doth protest too much.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

So you honestly think people who can’t stand her, subscribe to her OF?

Do you spend a lot of time on Fox News? What about Teslas? Do you have one? No? Big fan of Christianity? No? Well, that MUST mean you go to church! Right?

Where do you people find this broken logic?

[–] mutual_ayed@sh.itjust.works 0 points 11 months ago (1 children)

What I posted was what we like to call a joke. Actually it was a well trod reference to Hamlet by William Shakespeare.

See, the thing about humor, it's often irrational. I'm not going to get into a grounded debate with you, as you do not deserve the energy and much like a pigeon, are perfectly happy to shit everywhere and fly off when you're bored.

But for posterity, it doesn't really matter if you do or don't pay for her OnlyFans, it only matters that it bothers you. And that tiny little twinge of shadenfruede warms the cockles.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world -2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

What I posted is what we like to call illustrative sarcasm.

And what is funny is that you think my illustrating your bad joke is a representation of what bothers me without ever having known who I am or what I’m about.

lol

I basically made you illustrate the argument against her by your own example.

I judge her on what she has said and done. You’ve judged me on who you need me to be so your opinion appears to be valid.

[–] mutual_ayed@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

We're all so very proud of you. Good boy with your big boy arguments

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world -2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

“We”? So, are you the self-appointed representative of just this community, or lemmy as a whole?

[–] mutual_ayed@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Big boy with big boy rhetoric. I'm loving this "debate me bro" energy! We really are just so very very proud of your indepth analysis of

*checks notes

a throw away web comic posted by a complete stranger on the internet.

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

So I double-checked, and it looks to me like you are the one that invited yourself to this discussion with some white knight contrarian nonsense in defense of-

*checks notes,

a throw away web comic posted by a complete stranger on the internet.

So…. I’m not sure you want I be accusing me of “debate bro” shenanigans.

Because, from here, it seems you just can’t help yourself from responding. Trust me… bro. It’s easy to just…. Not. Go ahead and give it a try.

All you have to do, is just walk away.

And not thoughtful critiques. Just whining really

So just scroll past it if you don't like it?

[–] abbotsbury@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Are you? I haven't whined on this post, so that's a weird accusation to make. Methinks you're projecting, sorry your delicate eyes witnessed an opinion you don't like.

[–] ChillCapybara@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

This comic is neither funny nor thoughtful. I’d say it’s getting the critique it deserves.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 18 points 11 months ago

I found d it funny. It's almost like funny is a subjective thing.
