I would find it equally weird if someone had a big titty anime girl or massive veiny cock art on their cryptography blog.
It’s weird because its unexpected, out of place, and not related to the actual content people might be interested in.
As for their opinion on security and cryptography luminaries… well it’s an opinion that I doubt has much basis in reality.
People not being rude about it doesn’t make it any less weird.

if you're going to be this judgey you'll never make it far in any tech related field. Programmers have a disproportionate number of trans women, infosec and it has a ridiculous number of furries, sysops has a large number of puppy play and pony play advocates; and we all know what those filthy fucking database admins are into.
You're a peripheral observer to fields where skill and capability matters more than anything else, and they have the wealth to explore whatever they want.

I have been very successful with my career in Cyber Security, and don't have to deal with anyones kinks in the workplace as you've claimed because I work with professionals who separate their work and personal lives.
It would seem the peripheral observer here is you.
This matches my experience in my career as well (various forms of IT into sysadmin/sysengineering), for what it's worth. Plenty of ways to express yourself and your individuality without bringing something that has strong sexual kink connotations into things.
And whatever your opinion on the fairness of it, you can't argue that furry art doesn't carry a strong strong association with the sexual fetish side of things.
A) being a furry is a lifestyle, not a kink
B) furry art is 99% sfw.
I would hardly call furries conventional.
