Friday-Sunday rode 700+ miles. Explored dirt roads, ripping tar, and camping in the redwoods. Ended getting soaked in a microburst after crossing the 90 degree Central Valley. Couldn’t imagine a better weekend.

How are you finding the 701? I just picked one up myself and coming from a big 1000cc adventure bike it's like a complete paradigm shift.

I absolutely love it. I just bought mine last Wednesday and am coming from an 890 adventure. I was worried it would feel too close to my 350 xcf-w but it is much more stable at speed on pavement. Off road I feel more at ease than on the 890 in almost all conditions. The power of the 701 is fantastic once you get the revs up. The simplicity of the bike is refreshing when maintaining it. It’s a really well refined platform that makes maintenance easy. The only drawback is lack of a fairing. Wind pressure and noise over 75 mph is intolerable for any length of time over a few minutes. Almost all my rides have some components on highway at 80+. I got the bike over 100 once and thought my neck might break off. I’ll definitely be adding a tower from either Rade garage or NomadADV. But in general I am super excited to ride it. My only regret is that I waited so long to buy one.

Sounds similar to my experience coming from the big V-Strom then. I have found that after some time I did acclimatise to the wind on the highway, but I am currently looking at this tower for mine when funds permit, as well as a MSC RM3 Steering Damper, the rear screw-top fuel cap and some twin pegs down the track. Glad to hear you're enjoying it.

I don’t think I can ever acclimate to that much wind, especially at 80-85 mph. It’s pretty harsh. I’m thinking maybe the Nomad ADV Tower but it’s a lot of cash. https://www.nomad-adv.com/store/p1137/FE2-24NomadNavigationTower.html
