Then I found out we just call them swedes, turnips, or neeps.

40yo, here; I've heard of them via Loony Tunes, but I have never even seen a picture of one let alone seen them for sale (no turnips either). Closest thing I've seen are radishes.

Turnips are objectively more terrifying than pumpkins when carved for Halloween. That's their main fame.
