This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

Some acronyms you might see.
- PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.
- YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.
- YDM new - You Deserved More: The commenter thinks you got off too lightly.
- BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.
- CLM - Clueless Mod: The mod probably just doesn't understand how their software works.

Looks like a pretty obvious case of PTB for me...
The reasoning given is even more of a reach than "wind=solar".
It's really not a reach though, wind is created by the sun heating Earth. It's a bit pedantic maybe but it's not a reach, it's direct cause and effect.
It's not a reach to say something that is technically correct. To say something is a reach or a stretch is to imply it is not entirely true or is not precise. The sun literally powers the wind on earth, it is just as much a reach to call a penguin a bird.
You have to go pretty far into pedantry... Which makes it a huge reach.
Its a valid comment to say its a reach, and also extremely valid to say this mod was reaaaaaaaccchhhing with their actions.
No, it's a reach to say something isn't really applicable but it is literal cause and effect. It doesn't fit the vibe, sure but it's not a reach to say that wind is just solar energy, the energy that moves the wind is the sun. Just like if I said if I never eat I will starve it isn't a reach but if I say I haven't eaten so I will starve is a reach.
You might not like it but it is technically correct.

I might be mistaken here but I'm pretty sure the tide is lunar pull but the waves are formed by wind.

Absolutely. Hell, I'd argue basically all the energy on the planet is nuclear.
But why is it solar if the sun heats molten salt to spin a turbine but it's wind if the sun heats the earth's mantle to move a turbine? Photovoltaic panels aren't the only type of "solar" energy but they are one of the VERY few that don't use a turbine of some sort.
I mean, its just most useful to discuss the actual physical mechanism being harnessed by the technology we have created.
Photovoltaic panels are using solar radiation directly, windmills are using wind directly, hydroelectric generators are using the momentum of water directly.
Concentrated Solar Power is typically just called solar, the OG solar before photovoltaic got cheaper. Photovoltaic isn't the only type of solar. It operates basically the same as wind, sun heats thing to move turbine.
Yeah, CSP would also be called solar as the physical mechanism that our manmade technology is interacting with is solar radiation. The difference with CSP vs wind turbines is that we're "making" wind/water vapour move (using manmade tech) to move the turbine in the case of CSP.
I don't think CSP uses air like wind, pretty sure they generally use water. Also, we're using man made tech to move wind turbines just like CSP. Hell, if we want to get into the weeds of it, photovoltaic panels are less solar than wind as they can only use a small wavelength of light to create electricity and hates too much thermal energy while wind uses all the heat energy that doesn't escape.
But the manmade tech is interacting with wind in the wind turbine case. If we wanna get really stupid about it then even fossil fuels are solar because the organics that turned into fossil fuels were all supported by the sun and they just served as single use solar batteries.
See, now that is a reach as the solar energy is first converted into chemical energy with fossil fuels while wind is thermal to kinetic just like CSP. Also, the wind is created by man made tech, global warming for instance is man made tech that increases the wind in some regions as well as heat islands, sky scrapers, forest clearing and turbulence from wind turbines themselves. The only real difference is scale, CSP is at small scale and wind is at large scale.

It's not a reach for CSP to be solar so it's not for wind to be a form of solar power. CSP doesn't use chlorophyll to create hydrocarbons thus has no association with solar power sources. Clearly you understand this distinction and are now backing out.

We're really not talking past eachother, you are deliberately being dishonest. In CSP is solar, wind is simply non concentrated solar. You responded with how that makes fossil fuels solar as if stored chemical energy over millennia is the exact same thing as the sun's rays heating a fluid that very same day. There's nothing to disengage from, it's literally just the vibes for you on what a word means, it's pretty common in green movements to see wind as a type of solar. Without the sun the wind will stop, we would have years of fossil fuels, geothermal, and nuclear power remaining.
Please refrain from replying further. I have informed you twice of the fact that I would like to disengage. I won't be baited back into the discussion. Please respect my desire to end this communication.
