Didn't he defend comedians who were getting cancelled for jokes by the left too, like Chappel? What's the surprise here? Ideological consistency does seem rare these days and "doing one thing while bitching when that same thing is done to you" is quite en vogue, and nobody acknowledges that the systems we put in place to control our opposition will be turned on us the instant they have a chance, but this (defending kimmel for jokes regardless of the politics) seems in line with what Rogan has always said afaik.

He helped enable the rise of the Alt Right by giving them serious air time.

Also, Dave Chappelle never got "cancelled". He's still getting Netflix specials and still booking shows. For some reason, people will pay him to call them poor.

Having people write critical articles about someone isn't the same as getting "cancelled".

If simply giving the alt-right a platform causes them to become more popular in society, that means there are deeper issues, giving them a platform isn't the real issue.

The real issue is that society is in a state where they are willing to support alt-right.

I mean, you identified the surprise - consistent ideology. That's not generally something anyone could accuse the right of lately.

"Can you believe Biden said that? That means he's too old to be president!"

"Uh, Trump said that"

"Oh, nevermind then"

Ideological consistency, my ass.

He's typically silent on the matter. So what's surprising is he actually spoke up for once.

Plausible deniabiliity. That's all

Well his comedian friends would disown him if he didnt and I genuinely think he still takes pride in his work.

I dont like Rogans politics but I actually respect him as a comic. I dont love his material, but in the same way that Katt Williams isnt writing jokes for suburban white folks, Amy Schumer is writing jokes for wine moms and woo girls. I can respect the joke writing and act even if it doesnt resonate. I think he is a good (not great) comic and probably still cares greatly about it.

Yeah I'm not a fan or anything but professionally he's been pretty consistent with his humor. I remember him calling out Carlos Mencia for stealing other (smaller comedians) material.

It was apparently pretty true so it really made Rogan look like a good dude, standing up for his peers against someone who was really starting to blow up (by stealing their material).

When did Chappel get cancelled?

And Rogan's whole confusing Trump with Biden thing proves he doesn't care about ideological consistency.
