Part of fascism — consolidating power in general — is ensuring that your opponents have no peaceful option left to regain power. If they resort to violence, it’s an excuse to destroy them. If they don’t resort to violence, there are still many ways to craft a casus belli to justify the purge.
We on the left spent decades trying to warn people about the fascists, but people are so incredibly stupid and hateful that they cheerfully handed over all the power to those monsters. Now it’s too late and violence is inevitable.
You don’t have to be “on the left”. It’s not left versus right, it’s fucking psycho idiots versus sensible, reasonable people. The “right” is just a polite way of saying “fucking psycho idiots”.
Lol, the good old left is good and right is bad... :)
You actually think it works like that... People who vote left are wise loving human beings dedicated to saving the planet, while the right side is responsible for all the evil..
I guess thats what politics does to your mind. You actually think left vs right is good vs evil.
Do you... just reject the idea that some positions are good and aome positions are bad, or do you object to the idea of labelling current existing positions as good or bad?
I think splittring populations into left and right is a meaningless distinction and designed to make people pick one of those sides. In reality both sides have much more in common with eachother than the politicians on each side.
You and me right here have a lot in common right away just writing in the same thread on lemmy. Politicians stand on stage and make grand statements for votes. At least I have nothing in common with those people.
Its a self-selected distinction , not an imposed one.
People describe their own political beliefs, they don't have a label thrust on them that they must use.
You also didn't answer either of my questions.
So you clearly have more in common with politicians than you think.
Not really, there are fundamental differences.
There are only like, half a dozen politicians on the left, tops. Maybe you're confusing Democrats for the left? They are very much not.
