He's an entitled man-child YouTuber who gained some popularity as an mouthy asshat playing World of Warcraft back in the day. And since then he's convinced himself that because he has a following he must be a gifted genius. And apparently that has translated into him not showering for reasons.

In short, as you already knew and implied, he's less than nothing special.

[–] theunknownmuncher@lemmy.world 21 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Bizarre that world of warcraft players think they're famous lol

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I think he moved on to other games eventually. He has a fairly high subscriber count on places like Twitch and YouTube. So in some sense he is relatively famous. But he seems to think that that makes him important or that his shitry opinions matter. When he isn't, and they don't.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 5 days ago

he seems to be all over youtube, even if intentionally arnt watching content like his.

Even the highest subscribed youtuber or twitch user would be completely unknown to the average person, none of these people are relatively famous. The majority of subscribers and internet traffic as a whole are bots.

EDIT: your downvotes don't change reality

MrBeast is reasonably well known even outside YouTube, he's doing shows for some other streaming service as well.

People like the slow mo guys are also pretty well known too.

[–] IronBird@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (2 children)

people really don't appreciate just how quickly legacy media is dying, more people watch any given asmongold stream than fucking...jimmy kimmel

everyone knows by now just how obviously fake and bullshit all legacy media is, it's why the powers that be are so desperate to reign in any social-media site not beholden to these oligarchs living in the past

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 5 days ago

only boomers and older gen x are on legacy media. they are the ones that are easiest to convince. conservative govt all over the world has hopped onto social media propaganda and it works, with the help massive troll farms.

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 days ago

YouTube is actually the only paid subscription I have, we just don't watch broadcast TV at home at all.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 5 days ago

he also sells shitty lunhcable clones, that is lead filled, and the collab he did with KSI, Paul is so cringe. apparently mr beast, is popular in ASIA.

Who?

If you showed a photo of these people to someone random on the street, it is almost guaranteed they would not have a clue who they are.

You're just in a bubble.

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 5 points 5 days ago

I've seen posters and billboards with the dude's face on them while driving around, he's famous outside of YouTube.

There's also people like the Slow mo guys who a lot of people would recognise.

A lot of people watch YouTube.

[–] tyler@programming.dev 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Many people wouldn’t recognize Bill Gates or Marilyn Monroe either. That has nothing to do with if they’re famous or not. You’re being disingenuous and you know it.

It's ironic that you accuse me of being disingenuous after saying something so ridiculous and unserious.

I watched twitch for a short second and mentioned some of the biggest streamers to friends who had no idea what was going on or who was being talked about it. They still have no idea what twitch is and why people watch it. At least the bathtub time was hilarious.

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Twitch perhaps, but YouTube has over two billion monthly users.

The biggest YouTube creators are definitely household names.

[–] atro_city@fedia.io 1 points 5 days ago

Really? I'd like you to put that to the test.

[–] you_are_dust@lemmy.world 14 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I don't think his hygiene issues came about after his fame. Seems he's always lived in filth. He's a millionaire that lives exactly the same way as he did without any money.

He’s a millionaire that lives exactly the same way as he did without any money.

I mean... that might be the only redeeming thing about him. Money didn't change him. Unfortunately, that mean's he's still gross lol

[–] Donkter@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Only some of its entitlement. The man is clearly either extremely traumatized and depressed or showing signs of more serious mental issues like schizophrenia.

As we have seen time and time again. In our world money acts as a very good mask for mental issues, but he would be having the same issues if he didn't luck into streaming, he would just be in a much much worse situation.

Or possibly he would have gotten help if he had had to rely on family and friends who might have convinced him to seek help sooner.
