Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Femboys=/=twinks tho. Also, most older iterations of him are more otter than anything. Also also, dont call children twinks, otters, or femboys. It's weird.

You know, I never thought about how old Link and Zelda are in the games. Never really had a need, of course, but in some games it's made obvious (literally switching between child link and adult link), I'm not sure if it's explicitly stated for wind waker but just look at him... But then, in BotW there's implications of past romance, and this being the last Zelda game I played might have primed me to not think of Link as a kid.

Wind Waker begins with grandma giving you your tunic for your twelfth birthday. :3

BotW has Zelda turn 17, so link is probably around that age as well

[–] MeatPilot@sh.itjust.works 10 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Would be creepy if he was 40 and just doing all this to groom her when she turns 18.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Link slept for a hundred years though in BotW.

[–] Uruanna@lemmy.world 2 points 4 weeks ago

After the birthday. And so did she.

There's literally a distinct "kid" version of Link to differentiate him from the "regular" adult Link in smash bros

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

I don't think there's a Link above the age of 17 in any game. Unless you count the undead one from Twilight Princess.

[–] Sibshops@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I always assumed he was an adult. He lives alone in the SNES game.

[–] GalacticSushi@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

He lived with his uncle. His uncle just dies within the first few minutes of the game.

[–] Sibshops@lemmy.myserv.one 6 points 4 weeks ago

I think he just died but doesn't live with him. There's no second bed for his uncle.

Not all versions of link have him aged as a kid, so we can use our own adult brains and assume this one isn't either. Plus, I got called a twink all the time in highschool bro, chill out it's just a meme lol

[–] chronotron@lemmy.world 8 points 4 weeks ago

he's 17 and a half in skyward sword

[–] heavy@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 weeks ago

I think it's okay for the joke, not that I speak for everyone, but I think we have bigger things to be mad at.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

Why's it weird to call Link a twink? He is though.

[–] applebusch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't think Link has ever been depicted as having any body hair, so he can't really be an otter. Also twink has evolved beyond its usage in gay culture. These days it's more of a general term that implies vague queerness more than explicit cis male homosexuality. We don't really know if Link is a femboy, trans femme, trans masc, or what, but he's definitely a twink under the modern sexuality agnostic usage.

No, that's not what twink means.

[–] applebusch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Why don't you list the definition you're operating under so we can skip the talking past each other argument. I was saying twink in it's modern usage is more of a vibe than strict "gay cis male early twenties with low body hair and body fat". I wasn't saying that sentence is the entire definition of twink, so you're right that's not what twink means.

[–] abbotsbury@lemmy.world 12 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Twink is slim and smooth, you're conflating connotation with denotation.

[–] FosterMolasses@leminal.space 0 points 4 weeks ago

And twunk: twink and a hunk, a twink with muscles, but still hairless. A twank on the other hand... twank is no good. That's a twink and a skank. Essentially just a ragdoll being passed around from twink, to twunk, to bear, to otter.

It's very difficult to maintain the lifestyle of a twank-verstile cause this often leads to a lot of self-hatred and denial, especially among the religious or political types, so they try and realign their sexual orientation through therapy.
