We haven’t found evidence of Stingrays being used at protests in the US yet, but if you’re going to a No Kings protest this weekend, why not bring Rayhunter to be sure? Don’t forget to charge and update it, then let us know what you find!

Follow-up: RayHunter is relatively easy to install on a TP-Link M7350 battery powered pocker router (I got one used).

It will readily spew mobile network .pcap (packet capture) files for your analysis (Wireshark recommended). Which is great...

...but alas, individual packet headers don't have the "signal strength" and "signal to noise ratio" fields filled with data (will take a look into source code, since the router shows and computes some kind of a global SNR), which for now, invalidates this device for the use I was planning to study. But for any other purpose that requires raw data about the layout of mobile networks in your area - it seems a very useful tool.
