The cat hair is gonna be the more serious concern there, if that becomes a standard perch for her.

Also... what cost 4,380.20?

Or did you not realize that was in the image?

How cheap is setting up your own lemmy instance?

[–] TevTra@lemmy.tevtra.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It can be as cheap as you want, mine is self-hosted directly from the pc that spawned out of replaced components from my current pc (featured here in this photo) after i slowly upgraded everything. I just need to set up cloudflare tunnel (free) to ensure privacy to my real ip address. Mostly the cost are the electricity i spent to keep the pc turned on 24/7. Oh and getting your own domain name has its own cost depending on the domain name.

Well that sounds not too expensive to me, good work!

Probably the RAM

You're a debt-slave, 'arry!

I myself have a very fine mesh dust filter on top so I don't think cat hair would get inside at all

A good solution, but, depending on your exact setup, you may have to balance the amount you lose airflow from which particular kind of filter you use.

Though, if, you're not generally running a bit hot, you are probably doing it right.

Correct.

Which is why I did not preface the amount with $ or £ or €.

Looks like a UK plug socket though could assume it's £.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

I entirely skipped/missed the socket, that's a good catch!
