I would like to have a pineapple plant just because I think they look neat and it's cool that they grow such large fruits.
I don't like pineapple though. Horrible, bitter taste.
Fascinating that you find pineapple bitter.
I think the other commenter may have hit the nail on the head. The original commenter might be allergic to the enzyme that fresh pineapple releases that makes it hurt your mouth. That would probably taste bitter if it was not only trying to digest you back, but those digestive enzymes were also mildly to threateningly poisonous to you.
Kinda like how people taste cilantro, sweet corn, and basically every other foodstuff differently.
I knew of cilantro, hadn't heard of sweet corn. It really is fascinating how all this works. There are things I dislike despite having tried many times, and genuinely want to like.

I don't think there's anything bitter in pineapple at all. Either you've only had really bad pineapple, or maybe you're allergic to it.
