Why not treat it like a regular F2M or M2F transition? Couldn't it be that these are genuine expressions of who they are?
While I get wanting to make that argument the overwhelming presence of it within the MAGA grouping to me seems to indicate something else. To me it looks like something akin to ritual scarification, foot binding, or skull elongation wherein it's a social beauty standard being spread amongst a group even if those within the group don't care or even dislike.
