No worries, I'm quite passionate about this topic so I'm happy to explain.

Like when nagatoro says "sus" in the subs

Not exactly, I checked this scene on YouTube to refresh my memory and she says "さっきからキョドりまくってますけど".
"キョドる" is a slang for "to act suspicious" so translating it as "sus" is just a perfect translation imo.

There were some bad translations before but they were very rare. I remember that this winter people were complaining that someone translated "marry christmas" to "happy holidays" lol
In recent years however I noticed that more and more stuff is getting localized, they dropped -san, -kun, -sama honorifics, they convert units like centimeters to feet and inches but all of those I can understand and ignore. It's an industry standard. Even if I prefer translation notes, honorifics and more literal translation there are legit arguments why it's not a good idea. But this season is just so wrong on another level. Using dubs audio description as subtitles is not an industry standard and it's not something you don't do because you upset some anime nerds. Tom Scott has an excellent video on that topic btw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU9sHwNKc2c
