I'm sure they will get right on enforcing that after they scold Russia for blowing up the dam in Ukraine. The sternly worded letter will probably arrive any day now.

Did Russia ever take credit for that? It always seemed to be something that benefitted Ukraine by denying water to occupied lands to the south and narrowing the river to make it more crossable.

russia controlled it, most experts agree russia did it, and no, destroying it would slow down the actual counteroffensive

edit: russia will never take credit for it unless they can spin it as some gigantic win and avoid consequences for doing so

From what I remember, they didn't. They tried to accuse Ukraine, but the evidence pointed to them.

"We think you blew up your own X" has been a common war crimes defense for years.

Apparently, Hamas blew up all the Gaza hospitals. Russia blew up the Nordstream II. Iran attacked their own girl's school. Americans shot down their own F-15s. Ukraine has attacked it's own dam.

You'd never even know war was going on. Everyone is just punching themselves.

IIRC, The dam is/was in occupied territory. It was hit by a missile.

I remember, that Russians were saying that, but according to the investigation the dam was blown up from inside? But I could be wrong here.

If I remember correctly, it changed hands a few times before it was destroyed

I wasn't following that closely, that could be true.
