The reality is most people just dont care where a service originates from, as long as its good. You wouldn't think it based on the internet, but most people arent on the internet to make points about things.
But they aren't good.
They mean good as in "functions well" not good as in "is not evil."

Try using any of them on mobile without using their dedicated apps.
I'm having second hand embarassement each time I have to use google maps on the browser. They should be ashamed of how badly it works.

I literally just said "a service" and thus meaning any service. Therefore, your response suggests that all services arent good.
That's part (the lesser part, but still important) of why I hate when news orgs use an angry dude on twitter as their example of someone who is up in arms about something.
The Internet is not representative of the population. The people posting are self selected. It's the same reason if you go looking for coffee advice you'll find a thousand posts with advice about roasting your own beans while most people are drinking Starbucks, Dunkin, Folgers, and Maxwell House.
The great majority of people do not give a shit what the Internet is doing. A lot of people look but only a teeny tiny slice are posting about it.

Roasting your own coffee is trivially easy if you have the right tools. I bought an air roaster in a crowd funding campaign a few years back and it's just incredibly more convenient, cheaper, and at least as good as buying from a roastery.
Of course, most people aren't going to want to spend a grand on something to save a few dollars a week, or to tweak a roast to fit their palate slightly better. I know I wouldn't have.
I mean yeah sure if you buy an automatic system you can do it and everything gets easy. But now it's not cheap anymore You have to source the beans which isn't easy or cheap either, at least in europe. If I would buy this and source the easiest to find coffee I would still pay 14€ per kg most likely a bit more with electricity. I buy pretty expensive coffee at 30/kg and even if I save 15 per kg I would still need 7 years to break even on it. That's not really cheap. If I would buy normal coffee at 16/kg I would never break even
I was really lucky to get mine in the early crowd funding phase - it was something like a quarter the current retail price. And my preferred green beans (when bought by the sackload, delivered) are about 60% the price of roasted beans at a local roastery. The value worked out well for me where I am, but I can certainly understand that your local prices will differ, and with the current price of the unit it's a lot more of a painful initial outlay. Still pretty cool for anyone who likes to tinker with their roast profile, of course.
