They scale just fine. Plus, they have no ongoing fuel or electricity costs.

My current factory uses nothing but the little personell carts to transfer stuff. It's inefficient as hell, but it's funny.

Just build 10,000 of them. You certainly won't regret putting 10,000 physics objects in your world.
