Yes, Lysol was a feminine hygene product originally.

And killed multiple women from septic shock down there.

It was pulled and reintroduced as a an all purpose cleaner.

what mystifies me is why they never rebranded. didn't want to waste those advertising dollars they already spent?

Wikipedia has few paragraphs about this.

Advertisements did note that Lysol was safe to use including on "delicate female tissues".[8] By 1911, 193 Lysol poisonings were recorded along with five deaths from "uterine irrigation".[9]

In my case it was a cbc radio documentary about the history of some common products and "feminine hygiene" that stuck with me.
