The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rule 2- Your post body text must include the reason WHY YSK:
In your post's text body, you must include the reason "Why" YSK: It’s helpful for readability, and informs readers about the importance of the content.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding non-YSK posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-YSK posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
If you are a member, sympathizer or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Disinformation, trolling, and being misleading will not be tolerated. Repeated or egregious attempts will earn you a ban. This also applies to filing reports: If you continually file false reports YOU WILL BE BANNED! We can see who reports what, and shenanigans will not be tolerated. We are not here to ban people who said something you don't like.
Rule 12- Linking directly to a video as a source is not acceptable.
Video only posts are responsible for an outsized portion of rules violations. Your post must contain text and meet the requirements of the previous rules.
Rule 13- If you file a report, include what specific rule is being violated and how.

How easy / intuitive is it to do on mobile (specifically iOS)? I've wanted to start for a while but the fear of making a mess and more work for volunteers has kept me from it so far.
I don't use iOS, but have read that there are apps for it too. On Android there is something called StreetComplete that is specifically aimed at beginners.
Probably the easiest thing to do on mobile is to add or update nodes describing POIs. For example if a store or restaurant or post box or trash can is missing on the map, you can add that. You can use OsmAnd or, I think, also CoMaps for that.
one thing to bear in mind is that you don't have to meet some standard, it's perfectly okay to ONLY map picnic tables if that's what you're comfortable with. In fact adding lots of small things like that is really useful, i mean just look at google maps: It's just a sea of POIs (Points of interest) on a super desaturated background where you can barely even see the roads..
Most people just use maps to find specific things.
I’ve been using Every Door on iOS and I’m pretty happy with it! I mostly add what I am sure about, eg missing shops or mark stuff that’s permanently closed. It’s really fun!
According to its documentation, the app Go Map!! can pull from "quests" (small questions, like "are this store's hours still up-to-date") used by the beginner-friendly Android app StreetComplete.
IIRC it does this via an overlay. Keep in mind that Go Map!! is normally a fairly robust editor and kind of does this as a side hustle.
