Having a sequel that does well isn't easy, but with the right script that format can easily work again. There's so much to pull from. I'm surprised (no, I'm not) that Paramount passed on it, unless what they presented wasn't a good fit. The first movie didn't do as well as it should have, but that's because no one knew what it was about and D&D movies don't have a great reputation.
