I called customer service and it's a known issue. In fact if you have one that has a flashing led when it's plugged in even if it's not from the update they would probably swap it if you told them that was the problem. Not sure what model they are going to replace it with but it's better than buying a new one.

Holy shit this is actually a known thing?

Mine died like 3 days after the 17.0 update. It was the oldest Apple TV I had in the house so I figured it just finally took a shit. I went out and bought a 3rd gen to replace it.

I will be calling support after work today to see if they can replace it for me.
